This role will see you work on complex, robust, highly scalable, and secure designs while supporting our leading Secure Money Movement platform. The CBA technology unit delivers the best digital banking services to Commonwealth Bank customers and to do so is responsible for digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology and technology infrastructure, cyber, fraud, physical security and business resilience for all divisions across CBA. It is also dedicated to delivering the best workplace technology experience for our over 53.000 people across CBA and focused on providing the latest tools, technology, and resources to enhance the way we work together and empower our people to achieve more for our customers.
Reporting directly to the Chapter Lead, you be joining the Group’s wider Secure Money Movement Software Engineering chapter, part of the wider Digital Retail Technology practice.
As a Software Engineer, you’ll be consulted on product and feature designs and will be critical to their quality implementation and delivery. You will have the opportunity to stretch yourself in front end engineering, API development, and systems integration, as well as contribute to the evolution of this system and the business strategy. Also, you’ll be invited to attend our regular engineering guilds to broaden your expertise and participate in agile ceremonies, which will allow you to contribute to and define the way we operate.

Can demonstrate modern full stack C#, .NET Core, SQL, React, Next.js coding practices and drive high-quality outcomes to solve core business objectives - essential.
Have the ability to deliver performance focused solutions that cater for a high volume and secure platform.
Have an excellent understanding of microservices architecture and restful API design patterns.
Apply best-practice security techniques to web applications and APIs.
Can develop scalable and secure enterprise applications capable of handling high traffic.
Can design innovative solutions to solve complicated problems as part of a cross-functional squad.
Ensure our technical approach is sound, fit-for-purpose, and well architected.
Support deployments across AWS (Amazon Web Services) environments through our continuous delivery pipelines.
Tech skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these will set you up for success in this team:
Back end: Proficient in .NET, .NET Core C# - essential.
Front End: Experience in Next.js and/or React - highly regarded.
Microservices design and implementation of highly scalable APIs.
Solid technical background in building and designing cloud platforms using AWS.
Databases: Experience in one or more of the following: SQL Server, Oracle and or Mongo DB.
Technical expertise with container technology: Proficient with Docker, building, deploying and managing containerised applications.
Thorough understanding of large-scale distributed systems, solution design and architecture principles.
Expertise in setting up DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, logging and monitoring tools (Observe, Obstack, PagerDuty, TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, Snyk and SonarQube).
Automated quality engineering and testing (Unit Testing, Regression Testing, Performance Testing, etc).
