The Senior Software Engineer will be hands-on with coding and responsible for shaping the evolution our Commbiz platform by designing and developing micro services, data access layers, REST API(s), and writing integration services for third-party API consumption, while simultaneously managing risk with safe deployments and automated testing, as well as driving full stack, full cycle engineering design capabilities.

As the Senior Software Engineer, you be reporting directly to the Software Engineering Digital CommBiz Chapter, a part of the Group’s wider Business Banking Technology practice. CommBiz is the Group’s leading Business Banking Platform offering key services and products to our customers.

Can demonstrate modern Next.js, React, .Net Core, C#, SQL coding practices building complex, high quality, scalable and secure solutions.
Have experience in full-cycle engineering design, build, challenge and run.
Have an excellent understanding of microservices architecture and restful API design patterns.
Apply best-practice security techniques to web applications and APIs.
Can develop scalable and secure enterprise applications capable of handling high traffic.
Ensure our technical approach is sound, fit-for-purpose, and well architected.
Support deployments across AWS (Amazon Web Services) environments through our continuous delivery pipelines.
Have a desire for new and innovative technology with a key focus across AI is highly regarded.
Tech skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;
Expert in SDLC and Agile methods with broader experience around architecture, design, implementation, deployment, integration, and technology transformations.
Advanced experience developing applications using Microsoft technologies such as C#, Asp.Net, .Net Core and SQL.
Experience in developing front-end solutions e.g Next.js, React.
Excellent understanding of microservices architecture and restful API design patterns.
Familiarity with containerisation and public cloud engineering e.g AWS – desirable.
Event based application models with Kafka – desirable.
Expertise in setting up DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, logging and monitoring tools e.g TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Artifactory, Snyk and Sonarqube.
Automated quality engineering and testing (Unit Testing, Regression Testing).
Authentication: Familiar with Identity standards - OAuth, OIDC, SAML
Design systems that deliver tailored financial products and leverage AWS to build scalable AI services, using generative AI tools (e.g. GitHub Copilot) to assist in coding, debugging, and automating repetitive tasks.
