About Us:
Andromeda Robotics is an ambitious social robotics company with offices in Melbourne and San Francisco, dedicated to creating robots that seamlessly and intelligently interact with the human world. Our first robot, Abi, is a testament to this vision—a custom-built platform designed from the ground up to be a helpful aid and intuitive partner in aged care homes. We are a passionate, collaborative team of engineers who solve some of the most challenging problems in AI and robotics.
Our Values:
- Deeply empathetic - Kindness and compassion are at the heart of everything we do.
- Purposely playful - Play sharpens focus. It keeps us curious, fast and obsessed with the craft.
- Relentlessly striving - With relentless ambition, an action bias and constant curiosity, we don’t settle.
- Strong when it counts - Tenacious under pressure, we expect problems and stay in motion to adapt and progress.
- United in action - Different minds. Shared mission. No passengers.
Your Role in the Action
As a Senior Software Engineer at Andromeda Robotics, you’ll be responsible for developing and maintaining our customer-facing web applications across multiple platforms. This includes working across the full web application stack, building rich, interactive user experiences with React or Vue on the frontend, while collaborating closely on backend services built with Node.js.
You will be more than just a frontend developer building websites; you will develop scalable, maintainable web applications that deliver seamless and secure experiences to our customers. Security will be a key focus across all your work.
You’ll work hands-on with design implementation, API integration, testing, performance optimisation, and CI/CD, partnering closely with product, design, backend, and robotics teams to ship polished, reliable applications.
How You’ll Make an Impact- Develop robust, production-grade web applications using React or Vue for frontend and Node.js for backend services.
- Also working with Python for integration and support of backend processes and ML-related features.
- Implement secure authentication and data handling, with security as a key priority.
- Define and implement state management, caching, offline/async patterns, and error handling that keep the experience resilient.
- Integrate REST/GraphQL services; shape schemas and versioning; own auth flows and secure data handling.
- Establish CI/CD, automated testing (unit/widget/integration/E2E), crash reporting, logging, and telemetry to keep quality measurable.
- Harden performance: profiling, bundle/runtime optimisations, image/asset strategy, network efficiency, and startup time.
- Drive release automation for mobile (store pipelines) and web (zero‑downtime deploys, feature flags, A/B, observability).
- Lead design/architecture reviews, mentor engineers, and document standards that scale.
RequirementsWhat We Are Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering, or equivalent real‑world experience delivering production apps.
- 5+ years building customer‑facing applications, including taking at least three complex app from refactor/rewrite to production.
- Proficiency in Javascript TypeScript + React/Next.js (React Native/Angular/Vue also valued) as well as Python.
- Deep understanding of state management (e.g., BLoC, Riverpod, Provider, Redux), async/data flow, and architectural patterns.
- Strong API integration experience (REST/GraphQL), auth (OAuth/JWT), and secure storage/networking practices.
- Testing mindset across the board; comfortable owning CI/CD pipelines and release tooling.
- Proven performance and accessibility chops; you care about polish and measurable user‑perceived quality.
- Excellent collaboration and communication; experience in mentoring and setting engineering standards.
- Native iOS/Android experience; release automation and store operations.
- Experience across cloud, namely AWS.
- Observability (crash analytics, tracing/metrics), experimentation, and feature‑flag platforms.
- Experience in healthcare/aged‑care or privacy‑sensitive domains.
