About R/GA

R/GA is an independent creative innovation company for the intelligence age. We harness design and technology to create more valuable experiences for people and brands. A company of reinvention, we evolve as technology reshapes the world, and we help our clients do the same.

Our work connects the potential of key technologies, platforms, and new ventures to create more valuable experiences between people and brands. Every interaction with a brand should deepen a customer's relationship and give them a reason to be loyal. Our collective offerings and expertise work together in service of this, whether training custom brand AI models, building adaptive commerce experiences, or designing personalised, generative interfaces.

About the Role

As a Senior SEO Analyst, you'll support R/GA's SEO team by providing multichannel (SEO, brand, PR, social) analysis and insight to address global search trends towards AI search usage. We help global brands adapt to changing online consumer behaviours, and with the rise of AI search, we're looking for someone who understands not just on-page SEO fundamentals, but also off-page factors like brand, PR, and social media marketing.

This is a highly collaborative role that requires you to work closely with our PR, Community, and Social Media teams, as well as developers, business analysts, and product owners. You will be the bridge between traditional SEO and cutting-edge AI strategy.

Your ability to build a strong working relationship with the product owner will be critical in creating user stories and ensuring SEO work is effectively prioritised within our development sprints. You’ll use AI search monitoring tools to derive data-driven insights and guide content efforts across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Stakeholder & Project Management: Build strong working relationships with product owners, managers, and business analysts to facilitate conversations around project prioritisation and propose new initiatives. You will act as a key advocate for SEO, using data-driven insights to make a compelling case for new projects and ensure our efforts are aligned with broader business objectives. Your ability to influence the product roadmap will be critical to the success of both the SEO team and the clients we support.
  • Team Leadership and Mentoring: In addition to your strategic responsibilities, you'll be a leader within the SEO team. This includes mentoring junior team members, sharing your expertise in AI search and Agile methodologies, and helping to foster a culture of continuous learning. Your insights and guidance will be crucial for developing the skills of the entire team, ensuring we stay ahead of industry trends and deliver outstanding results for our clients.
  • AI Search Strategy & Monitoring: Utilise an AI search monitoring tool to track and analyse how our brand and products are represented in AI-generated search results. Identify opportunities and risks, and develop strategic plans to influence a positive and accurate narrative.
  • Thought Leadership: Stay abreast of the latest developments in generative AI, LLMs, and search engine algorithms. Act as an internal subject matter expert, educating the wider business on the implications of AI search
  • Agile SEO Integration: Work within an agile framework, participating in sprint planning and other ceremonies to integrate SEO requirements into the development workflow. Create and manage user stories to define SEO tasks and work with cross-functional teams to get them prioritised.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting: Regularly report on the performance of our AI search strategies, using data from our monitoring tools, Google Analytics, and other platforms. Provide clear, actionable insights and recommendations to stakeholders. Bring enthusiasm and clear, actionable, data-driven insights to every report delivered.
  • Multichannel Content Strategy: Develop and execute a comprehensive content strategy that aligns with our SEO objectives and informs the work of our PR, Community, and Social Media teams towards influencing AI search answers.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the PR team to ensure our press releases and media mentions are optimised for AI retrieval. Work with the Community team to encourage positive, brand-aligned user-generated content, and collaborate with the Social Media team to craft content that is highly citable by LLMs.
  • Content Creation & Optimisation: Guide the creation of content that is not only valuable to human audiences but also structured and optimised for AI ingestion. This includes influencing brand messaging, tone of voice, and the use of FAQs and structured data.

The ideal person

  • Has 6+ years of experience in SEO
  • Experience in leading small teams
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills, with the ability to translate SEO findings into clear, strategic, actionable insights recommendations. Can teach junior SEO team members on the difference between both.
  • Proven experience in SEO, with a strong understanding of fundamental SEO principles (technical SEO, on-page optimisation, keyword research, link/mention building).
  • Demonstrable experience working within an agile framework, including familiarity with sprint cycles, creating user stories, and sizing work (e.g., story points).
  • Experience in developing and executing a multichannel content strategy.
  • Demonstrable experience working with and influencing PR, Social Media, or Community teams.
  • A solid grasp of how generative AI and Large Language Models (LLMs) work, including an understanding of how they source and interpret information.
  • Experience with AI search monitoring tools is highly desirable.

  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to make a compelling case for SEO work to be prioritised.
  • A proactive, adaptable, and innovative mindset.

No-matter who you are, where you’re from, who you love, follow in faith, disability (or superpower) status, ethnicity or the gender you identify with (please do tell us your pronouns), you're welcome at R/GA. What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
