The Senior Scrum Master will coach Agile teams, facilitate Scrum ceremonies, manage program alignment, remove impediments, and improve team performance metrics in a SAFe environment.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Key Responsibilities
1. Agile Team Coaching & Enablement
- Coach teams on SAFe, Scrum, Kanban, and Lean-Agile principles.
- Facilitate core Scrum ceremonies: Planning, Daily Stand-ups, Reviews, and Retrospectives.
- Foster self-organization, accountability, ownership, and cross-functional teamwork.
- Promote a culture of transparency, mutual respect, learning, and continuous improvement.
2. Program Alignment & PI Planning
- Prepare teams for Program Increment (PI) Planning with clear, achievable objectives.
- Identify, manage, and communicate cross-team dependencies and risks.
- Track delivery progress against PI objectives and ensure alignment with ART goals.
- Facilitate participation in ART-level events such as Scrum of Scrums and System Demos.
3. Impediment Management & Flow Optimization
- Remove team-level impediments or escalate when needed to maintain delivery flow.
- Monitor and improve workflow efficiency using metrics like flow time, cycle time, and WIP limits.
- Guide teams in backlog refinement, story slicing, and estimation practices.
4. Continuous Improvement & Agile Metrics
- Support teams in effectively using Agile metrics (velocity, predictability, flow metrics).
- Lead retrospectives with clear action plans and measurable improvements.
- Facilitate Inspect & Adapt sessions and Agile health assessments.
5. Stakeholder & Product Owner Collaboration
- Partner with Product Owners to maintain a well-defined, prioritized, and ready backlog.
- Ensure open, aligned communication between teams, stakeholders, and the ART.
- Engage in Communities of Practice and mentor less-experienced Scrum Masters.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Software/Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Scrum Master in Agile/SAFe delivery environments is required.
- Excellent communication skills in English (B2+ or higher) and ability to collaborate across functions and geographies is required.
- Strong knowledge of Scrum, SAFe, Kanban, and Lean principles.
- Proficiency with Agile tools such as Jira and Confluence.
