Job Description

  • Be part of our Jetstar Safety team

As the Senior Risk and Change Specialist, you will play a critical role in shaping and embedding a proactive, safety-by-design approach to risk and change management across the Jetstar operation. Working closely with senior leaders, project managers and technical specialists across various business units, you’ll ensure operational changes are implemented safely, effectively, and in alignment with both regulatory requirements and Jetstar’s Safety Management System.

Your engagement with leadership and operations managers will reinforce our existing safety culture, embedding a culture of informed risk ownership and enabling behavioural shifts that reinforce safe operational practices.

To be considered for this role, key skills will include:

  • Qualifications in safety management, risk, human factors or a related discipline (highly desirable)
  • 4+ years’ experience in risk and change management within aviation or another high reliability industry such as trains, mining, oil & gas
  • Proven ability to lead complex change and risk programs, with a strong understanding of safety management systems
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, including demonstrated ability to network, negotiate and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders
  • Demonstrated ability and competency in managing and interpreting data and using business intelligence reporting systems
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Strong negotiation, persuasion, and influencing skills
  • Exceptional organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with high attention to detail

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
