About you:

You are an accomplished project leader with extensive experience delivering complex payroll and SaaS implementation programs. Trusted by senior stakeholders and clients alike, you confidently navigate large-scale, multi-workstream engagements, ensuring successful delivery from initiation through to go-live and beyond.

You bring more than execution excellence—you provide strategic guidance, foster strong client partnerships, and mentor emerging project managers to elevate the performance of the wider team. As a champion of continuous improvement, you help shape delivery frameworks, strengthen project management capability, and drive best-practice execution across the organization.

Your leadership sets the standard. By combining commercial insight, delivery expertise, and a relentless focus on outcomes, you consistently deliver value for clients while raising the bar for project management excellence.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of complex payroll and workforce management software implementations, from discovery through to go-live and project closure.
  • Own project planning, governance, risks, dependencies, resources, and milestones to ensure successful delivery outcomes.
  • Act as the trusted advisor and primary client contact, managing stakeholder expectations, communications, issues, and scope changes.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams and drive requirements gathering, solution design, UAT, and client sign-off activities.
  • Manage project commercial performance, including budgets, utilisation, forecasting, margins, and delivery risks.
  • Mentor project managers, champion delivery excellence, and continuously improve project methodologies, templates, and standards.

Your skills and experiences might also include:

  • Exposure to payroll fundamentals, workflows, and compliance across APAC jurisdictions, with the ability to advise clients and coach team members through complex scenarios.
  • Proven success delivering complex, high-value SaaS and software implementation projects; PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent certification is strongly preferred.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with confidence leading executive governance forums and influencing outcomes across client and internal teams.
  • Strong customer focus, combining analytical thinking and proactive problem-solving to identify risks early and drive successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrated commitment to raising delivery standards through continuous improvement of methodologies, processes, and best practices.
  • Possessing a forward-thinking mindset with the ability to leverage AI and automation tools to increase effectiveness, productivity and business value.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, able to engage and influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Being highly organised and adaptable, with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects, balance competing priorities, and quickly master new technologies.
  • Ability to demonstrate that you are a self-motivated leader who thrives under pressure, works effectively both independently and collaboratively, and is passionate about mentoring others and building team capability.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
