Senior Project Manager – Portfolio (Athens, Greece)
Ameresco has a unique opportunity based in Athens for a Senior Project Manager to join our Operations Team, focusing on portfolio-level oversight and delivery of renewable energy and / or energy efficiency projects implemented by internal and third-party providers. This role involves strategic management, stakeholder coordination and governance of a complex project portfolio to deliver multimillion-dollar outcomes for public, institutional, government and commercial customers.
Responsibilities
- Portfolio Oversight & Governance:
Provide strategic management of a portfolio of renewables and / or energy efficiency construction projects—overseeing both internal teams and third-party contractors to ensure all projects align with Ameresco’s objectives, standards and customer requirements. - Third-Party & Vendor Coordination:
Lead coordination and relationship management with contractors, vendors, consulting partners and other external parties responsible for project execution. Monitor third-party performance, resolve escalations, ensure quality control and drive accountability for delivery. - Project Reporting, Scheduling & Integration:
Oversee implementation and integration of project controls and scheduling across the full project portfolio, ensuring all projects use approved methodologies and tools. Consolidate project schedules—monitor progress, dependencies and resource allocation and critical path tracking. - Financial & Risk Management:
Manage portfolio-level project accounting, budgeting and cost tracking. Identify, assess and manage project risks, ensuring proactive mitigation actions are in place. Deliver consolidated reports on financials, performance metrics (KPIs) and risk status to executive stakeholders. - Customer & Executive Interface:
Maintain regular communication with Ameresco customers, senior management and key stakeholders (both internal and external) to ensure satisfaction, manage expectations and fulfill contractual obligations at the portfolio level. - Continuous Improvement & Compliance:
Develop and implement best practices for portfolio and third-party project management. Ensure compliance with Ameresco, industry, customer, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, and codes across all portfolio projects. Foster a culture of safety, quality, performance and continuous improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
- Engineering degree.
- More than 10 years of proven success managing a portfolio or program of large-scale construction or energy projects, including oversight of third-party executed work scope.
- Renewable and / or Industrial power, electrical, mechanical or engineering construction project management experience focusing on Solar and BESS plants, complex facility infrastructure construction, renovations, retrofits, upgrades, building controls and automation and energy services
- Demonstrated experience with portfolio/program management methodologies and digital tools (e.g., MS Project, Procore, or equivalent).
- Strong organizational, leadership and negotiation skills with the ability to influence internal and external partners at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and foster positive business relationships
Desired Experience/Skills
- Full proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Project, and portfolio/project management software; experience using Procore is preferred.
- Advanced knowledge of construction safety standards, mechanical and electrical systems, engineering and project management regulations, practices and codes.
- Effective multitasking capabilities, proactive problem-solving and resilience in complex stakeholder environments.
- Excellent verbal, written, computer, technical communication and presentation skills.
