That’s why we’re seeking a Sr. Project Manager, Asia-Pacific accountable for cross-functional oversight and delivery of Cogstate services on a group of studies with sponsors and/or sites located in the Asia-Pacific Region (APAC), with the primary focus on Japan. The SPM will work closely with Cogstate’s strategic partners in the region to support Business Development and delivery.
The SPM will have strong Project Management skills, strong customer and end-user relationship management skills, and have deep knowledge of Cogstate delivery methods to be able to deliver across Cogstate functional areas independently. The SPM will collaborate with colleagues in other regions who may not be available during standard Asia-Pacific working hours. The SPM is responsible for study reporting, maintaining successful relationships with the study sites/raters/CRAs/sponsors, and delivering quality management and oversight for all assigned clinical trial programs. The SPM is also responsible for working with Business Development (BD) from Cogstate and partners and working with them and the Proposals Management group to deliver proposals on time and to represent Cogstate in customer facing meetings. The SPM may organize governance for partner work in the region and strategic customers as they develop.
The role involves gathering feedback and metrics from sponsors and local teams to improve process and align with teams in other regions. Travel to sponsors in Japan for face-to-face meetings is required. The role will require extensive written and phone interactions between all office locations (US and UK), as well as with customers in English and Japanese.
This position may include people management of up to 8 direct reports in the future.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage client relationships as main POC for individual and some portfolios of studies.
- Independently lead Cogstate’s APAC Clinical Trials.
- Collaboratively manage global clinical trials with APAC presence.
- Attending Investigator Meetings (as needed) and ensuring Cogstate is well represented.
- Work in an Agile environment with Portfolio Teams, and work across established Portfolio Teams to represent APAC.
- Establish an APAC focused Portfolio Team.
- Oversight of resourcing and financials across a Portfolio of Projects
- Invoice for assigned projects based on expected timelines and understanding of project progression.
- Facilitate team building and communication in a virtual environment.
- Develop in depth understanding of Cogstate service delivery within operational, financial and regulatory constraints.
- Work closely with Business Development and project team managing relationship for key accounts.
- Lead and participate in Bid Defense and Face to Face customer meetings to ensure Cogstate Clinical Trials Operations is well represented.
- Manage internal initiative projects
- Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders in the development of rater training curriculums and materials for assigned clinical trials.
- Create rater selection tools and tracking qualifications
- Acting as Rater Training team lead, leading meetings, coordinating the development and deployment of training, tracking training progress, and communicating status to sponsors.
- Actively monitor sponsor communication and serve as the point of contact for the study.
- Ensure sites are SIV-ready with all training and assessment tools according to study timelines.
- Forecast invoicing based on expected timeline and progress of the study
- Ability to review Work Orders and determine deliverables and timelines for project.
- Support budget development for new opportunities.
- Communicate to executive management, Clinical Trials Leadership and study teams on study progress- deliverables, financials and relationships for assigned accounts
- Establish corrective action if projects are outside of scope or budget and track activities being done to improve profitability. Report on progress.
- Mentor junior team members and Portfolio Team members, in communication with sponsors and sites provide timely feedback on performance. Work with Clinical Trials Leadership to secure new resources when needed during busy periods and for new projects.
- Participate in internal and external audits and inspections.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (business, scientific or a technical discipline preferred). Master’s preferred but not mandatory.
- Ability to speak Japanese and English fluently.
- PMP or Project Management Certification preferred but not mandatory if with sufficient experience.
- Experience working in Clinical Trials at a CRO, other vendor or a site.
- Experience working cross-culturally and remotely
- Experience working with Business Development to describe how work is completed to new or potential customers.
Skills, Knowledge and Specialist Expertise
- Proven ability to successfully manage a full workload across multiple-projects independently.
- Ability to manage competing priorities - ensuring that all deliverables are met, on time (or adequate communication is sent); peak periods do not result in other studies being ignored.
- Able to answer study and proposal questions around process, scope, budget independently.
- Strong understanding of budgets.
- Ability to work with Data Management, Science, Site Services and to support those areas when needed.
