About the role:
This position is ideally suited to an experienced Engineer who aspires to move into Project Engineering. Representing BDA in the Customer SPO Air Battlespace Management Continuous Delivery Team (ABM CDT) engaging directly with Airforce and other Defence Industry Partners you will apply your knowledge and leadership to support the delivery of complex System of Systems solution. This technical role will support Airforce with the assessment, planning and facilitation of incremental Capability enhancements to existing Command and Control Ground Based Systems.
Key responsibilities include:
  • Engage with Airforce capability leaders and stakeholders to assist the ABM CDT with identifying the current Operational needs of the units with a perspective of how these may impact the requirements, integration, verification and delivery of systems within the Air Battle Management Environment (ABME).
  • Support Airforce, above the line contractors and major system leads (MSLs) to resolve technical issues and roll out new capability by facilitating and participating in ABM working groups and technical review boards.
  • Developing and reviewing change management artifacts, design specifications, design notes, integration / test plans, test procedures, test reports and other design artefacts
  • Assist with the coordination of Capability changes through key design reviews including development approval and other technical design approval gates.
  • Supporting BDA and other MSLs with key reviews of test procedures, analysing requirements compliance and triage of bugs/defects.
  • Acting as a customer and stakeholder interface to ensure that engineering and technical requirements are adequately understood

To be successful you will be able to demonstrate:
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in complex technical development and integration projects.
  • Strong understanding of Project Engineering principles and application of techniques
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles and lifecycle management
  • Experience developing and executing against key Project Engineering and Systems Engineering artefacts including Systems Engineering Management Plan and Verification and Validation Plan
  • Experience with Change Management processes and progressing change management artefacts
  • Advanced communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to engage, influence and negotiate with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and customers.
  • Experience with aerospace and / or defence projects highly regarded.

This position is based in Newcastle. Centred in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, the Williamtown office is just 2 hours from Sydney and next to Newcastle.
