Within Business Bank, our eCommerce products power how thousands of Australian merchants onboard, accept payments, and manage their digital commerce with confidence.

See yourself in our team

The eCommerce team designs and builds the experiences that help merchants join, transact, and grow through simple, secure, and scalable payment solutions.

As a Senior Product Designer, you’ll work across merchant onboarding and in‑life experiences, partnering closely with delivery squads and risk team. You’ll bring strong human‑centred design craft and product thinking to solve complex problems and shape the future of digital payments within Business Bank.

This role is suited to an experienced Product Designer with proven experience, including recent senior‑level ownership of end‑to‑end product design.

Cultural alignment is important to us — we’re looking for someone who lives our values of Care, Courage, and Commitment.

What you’ll do

  • Lead end‑to‑end design of merchant onboarding and in‑life experiences, from discovery through to delivery.

  • Plan and conduct qualitative and quantitative research to understand customer needs and inform design direction.

  • Design and iterate user flows, interactions, and service touchpoints to improve usability, clarity, and merchant confidence.

  • Create and test high‑quality design artefacts including journeys, flows, wireframes, service blueprints, and prototypes, translating insights into clear, testable outcomes.

  • Partner closely with Product, Engineering, and Risk to balance customer needs, business outcomes, regulatory requirements, and technical feasibility.

  • Champion inclusive, accessible, and evidence‑based design, ensuring solutions meet organisational, technical, and compliance standards while delivering value to merchants.

What you’ll bring

You’re an experienced Senior Product Designer with strong product craft, curiosity, and a collaborative mindset. You’ll bring many of the following skills and experiences, and be keen to grow into the rest:

  • Extensive experience in human‑centred design, product strategy, and structured design thinking.

  • Strong Figma capability across flows, wireframes, high‑fidelity UI, and interactive prototypes; familiarity with AI‑assisted design tools (e.g. Figma Make).

  • Ability to translate business requirements and customer insights into clear, testable design solutions.

  • Confidence facilitating workshops, co‑design sessions, and alignment activities with cross‑functional teams.

  • Strong advocacy for accessibility, inclusive design, and responsible design practices.

  • Experience in payments, eCommerce, or financial services is highly regarded.

  • A demonstrated risk mindset — proactively identifying, understanding, and responding to current and emerging risks.

Why join us?

You’ll help define the future of merchant onboarding and digital payments within Business Bank, working on products that power commerce across Australia. You’ll design experiences that make joining and using our eCommerce solutions simpler, smarter, and more secure for businesses of all sizes — while being supported by a strong design community and a product‑led way of working.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
