About the role  
  

We’re seeking a Procurement Specialist – Travel and Expense, who will be responsible for providing operational support for the travel and expenses including the corporate card program in both Australia and North America.   
  

You’ll join an innovative team, who provide support to the broader procurement function from time to time on activities relating to purchase order processing, contract maintenance, and supplier management. 
  

As our Procurement Specialist – Travel and Expense, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.  

  

Day-to-day, you will:  

  • Manage the corporate credit card program, including issuance, limit changes, and compliance monitoring 

  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of expense reports, including auditing for policy compliance and supporting documentation 

  • Lead initiatives to reduce travel and expense costs, including preferred hotel tiers, ride-sharing, and policy enforcement  

  • Develop, implement, and maintain corporate travel policies and procedures in line with business needs and compliance requirements 

  • Oversee all travel arrangements including air and hotel, ensuring alignment with preferred suppliers and negotiated rates 

  • Support the negotiation of contracts and service level agreements with travel service providers, including airlines, hotels, and travel management companies

  • Maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders including Finance, Procurement, and People Leaders to ensure alignment and support 

  • Promote virtual alternatives to travel where appropriate to reduce costs and environmental impact 

  • Develop strategic relationships with internal stakeholders across the category to understand their business requirements and ensure that category management solutions are appropriate for their current and future business needs 

  • Working with the Procurement Operations Manager, ensure formal 

  • Supplier Performance Reviews are implemented for the key Travel & Expense suppliers 

 

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:  

  • Several years proven experience in procurement or finance with direct experience with travel and expense management 

  • Experience managing or supporting corporate card and travel programs 

  • Attention to detail, sound organisation and time management skills, and the ability to prioritise 

  • Strong Excel and data analysis skills; ability to prepare dashboards and reports

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to influence stakeholders across all levels, support change adoption, and manage escalations or non-compliance tactfully 

  • Strong customer focus, particularly relating to support and training to Procurement users 

  • Track record of identifying and delivering process enhancements, automation opportunities, or policy simplification initiatives in a procurement or finance setting 

  • Previous experience with Serko (Zeno), Workday and Workday Strategic Sourcing is desirable
