As a member of the Technology division, you will contribute to all aspects of the technology products and services we deliver, from technical strategy and design to coding to deployment to operation. Our products and services are leveraged across all Business Unit Platforms within the Bank to deliver industry-leading software including: CommBank App, Netbank, CommSee, CommSec, CommBiz and Commbank.com.au.

We’re looking for out of the box thinkers who want to use technology to work on real-world problems that have the potential to change the lives of our 17 million+ customers. The successful applicant will join a team tasked to manage the Temporal Platform which provides Durable Execution of Workflows for the bank. You will drive the automation and continuous improvement of the services through a DevSecOps model and ensure the platform is running 24*7.
Platform Engineers are accountable for building and operating the platform. The responsibilities of this role include:
Collaboratively work with customer facing product engineers to design, build and run platforms that they can use to deliver customer value at greater quality, velocity, and safety.
Create a standardized set of tooling for deploying and running applications and setting them up with best practices.
Ensure that our platforms are loved by our software engineers, and continually evolve our platforms to embrace new technology and improve the happiness and efficiency of our software engineers.
Maintain the underlying infrastructure to ensure the that it is reliable, secure and scalable.
Make all platforms entirely self-service, secure, and available within minutes without human approval.
Participate in cross-group activities to build a culture of one team, bar-raising both our engineering capability and our technology solutions to drive our strategy.
Write software and tooling that automates the operations of our platforms, infrastructure, environments, and tooling.
Write software to ensure that all deployment and operations is as automated as possible, using languages such as python and go, and automate implementation of controls into our platforms.
Actively participate in On-Call rosters from time to time to own resolution of any critical issues, ensuring the seamless operation of our systems, products and platforms.

Note: We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team.
Have strong SDLC experience across system design, coding/scripting, testing, CI/CD, Observability, Security
Have very good communication skills (verbal and written).
Have a growth mindset and can drive continuous improvements.
Have experience building platforms that can scale.
Have strong experience with AWS.
Is familiar with various scripting/programming languages like Go, Python
Have experience with Workflow Orchestration technologies like Apache Airflow, Temporal, Step Functions
Participate in on-call roster.
