The Technology unit is responsible for delivering world-class digital banking experiences to Commonwealth Bank customers. Its remit spans digital delivery, group data and analytics, technology infrastructure, cyber security, fraud prevention, and business resilience—supporting all divisions across the bank with secure, scalable, and innovative technology solutions.

The Engineering Platform domain within the Chief Technology Office (CTO) is integral to facilitating scalable, secure, and efficient software delivery across the organisation. This domain concentrates on developing core capabilities, including CI/CD pipelines, secure coding practices, and test management.
Additionally, the domain supports AI-driven enhancements designed to enhance the developer experience.
You will work on all stages of our tech products and services, from design to deployment. Our solutions are used across all Business Units in the Bank to deliver top-tier software.
We support our people with the flexibility to balance where work is done with at least half your time each month connecting in office. Have a strong understanding and experience in Software Design and development
Are passionate about coaching and helping the team with technology and process
Analyse systems and applications and provide recommendations for enhancement and development
Contribute to the technical solution design of system enhancements
Does software development and quality control of software developed by geographically disperse team
Work collaboratively within a team environment, assist team members, and complete related tasks
Follow release and change processes in the compilation and distribution of software builds and releases to development and test environments, as well as system updates into production
Troubleshoot complex deployment and environment issues
Assist with preparation and documentation of deployment and configuration scripts for development, test and production environments
Tech skills
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team;
Extensive experience in Software/Systems/Platform Design, Development and Operations
Demonstrated experience in languages like Python, Go, Java, C#, JS/TS, Bash, PowerShell
Hands on experience in Setting up cloud infrastructure in AWS, using CloudFormation or Terraform and AWS concepts and services including IAM, Lambda, EC2, EKS, S3, API Gateway
Demonstrated experience in Containerisation (Docker), Kubernetes, Developing and deploying Helm Charts
Experience with setting up and using CI/CD tools such as Github, Github Actions, Teamcity, Jenkins, Artifactory, Octopus Deploy
Good understanding of Application security and ability to implement Security policies and standards into software design and development
Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills using monitoring and logging solutions like Splunk, Grafana, CloudWatch
Good understanding of GenAI concepts, LLM and able to leverage AI Capabilities to streamline and enhance CI/CD processes.
