The role of Senior Platform Engineer is to design, build, run and evolve tools, infrastructure, templates and capabilities to deliver business value, and write code to drive automation in running our infrastructure and environments.

CommBank Data is the emerging Cloud data platform solution consisting of AWS native services and capabilities that ingests data from multiple source systems and executes business use cases for AI, advanced analytics (machine learning) at scale, across the comprehensive dataset and facilitates data discovery by advanced analytics users.
This role will see you become part of the Data Platform Greenfields crew, a part of the wider Data Engineering and Data Platform Chapter. The crew is accountable and responsible for the platform’s availability, performance, security and lifecycle management.
Collaboratively we work to design, build and run ‘platforms’ to deliver customer value at greater quality, velocity, and safety.
Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement and manage automated test scripts for platform infrastructure, APIs, and data pipelines.

Collaborate with development teams to identify potential issues in regression testing and early in the development cycle.

Design scalable solutions that utilize various AWS services to enhance platform capabilities.

Implement automation frameworks through test case development.
-
Exhibit a proactive approach, constantly seeking innovative solutions to complex technical challenges.

Proficient in creating automated tests for APIs, data pipelines, and UI components.

Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues during regression testing phases.

Offer mentorship to junior engineers, contributing effectively both as an individual and as a team member wherever applicable.

Required to maintain and build excellent relationships with associates and stakeholders, as well as actively contribute to team culture and uphold groups core values.

Are skilled with extensive experience in test automation, platform infrastructure, and CI/CD processes. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in both manual and automated testing methodologies, particularly focusing on API, data pipelines, and UI testing. This role requires proficiency in Python and familiarity with AWS services to enhance our platform’s reliability and performance.

Tech Skills:
We use a broad range of tools, languages, and frameworks. We don’t expect you to know them all but experience or exposure with some of these (or equivalents) will set you up for success in this team. Relevant experience of 6-8 years in the below:

Test Automation:
-
Conduct positive and negative regression testing to ensure the stability of new releases.

Create comprehensive test data for application-level and pipeline-level testing scenarios.

Regression Testing: Execute positive and negative regression tests prior to roll-out to the System Integration Testing (SIT) environment.

AWS Expertise: Leverage AWS certification to automate platform deployments effectively.

Automation Frameworks Utilize the PyTest library for writing robust test cases in Python and implement UI Testing.
-
PyTest Library & Python: Familiarity with the PyTest framework for writing simple as well as scalable test cases using Python. This includes understanding how to leverage fixtures, parameterization, and plugins within PyTest.

UI Testing: Knowledge of automating web application testing. And be able to discuss specific frameworks utilized by team members.

Building New Platform Versions Using Automation Capabilities: Experience in utilizing automation tools to facilitate the building and deployment of new versions of the platform efficiently.

CI/CD Processes:

Manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins for orchestrating build processes.

Integrate automated testing frameworks into CI/CD workflows to trigger tests upon code changes.

Utilize GitHub branching strategies and actions for version control and deployment automation.
