Our Team
From take-off to landing, Thales offers the most complete range of solutions to provide dynamic Air Traffic Services to support today's growing domestic and international travel requirements. Utilising this knowledge and experience Thales Australia will deliver a harmonised Civil/Military Air Traffic Management System (CMATS / OneSKY) in Australia to Airservices Australia and Defence.
This will enable a new level of safety and efficiency, while also reducing delays for the travelling public and providing opportunities to improve environmental outcomes. OneSKY will transform Australia’s sky and we are proud to be partners in its delivery.
Your role:
The OneSKY programme is delivering a range of ICT Infrastructure to support an Air Traffic Control solution. The Infrastructure Architect will assist with the detailed design, configuration and automation of deployment of this ICT infrastructure.
You are responsible for the design and provision of network architecture including design, drawings, set to work, implementation and configuration activities. The Network Architect is a key member of the infrastructure team that provides safe and secure turn-key ICT infrastructure/platform and SOE supporting Thales Air Traffic Management solutions.
Working with various internal and external stakeholders, including cross-functional and customers; you will be able to communicate clearly complex issues to people with less technical skills to enable decision making.
The Senior Network Architect is required to not only contribute to the technical solution, but to also document detailed design and trace to allocated requirements. They are consulted on all decisions related to their speciality engineering areas.
Their responsibilities may extend to leadership of activities and small teams to achieve a specific outcome such as the design and delivery of a function / break-fix within an agile sprint framework.
Your key accountabilities:
- Integration of the solution elements in a logical and controlled manner to evaluate the design, behaviour, interactions and performance to confirm that the requirements against which the solution has been designed are fulfilled
- Supporting the planning and coordination of program hardware integration activities, and delivering hardware integration services for systems and/or sub-systems of products
- Contributing to infrastructure testing activities to demonstrate the solution satisfies the user requirements
- Participating in Design Reviews with customers
- Identifying risks and proposing effective solutions
On day one you will come with:
- Australian Citizenship - eligibility for defence clearance is required
- Qualifications in an Electronic Engineering or Computer Science discipline, degree level or equivalent experience
- Experience in large and distributed networked computer systems
- Solid routing and switching skills
- Solid understanding of routing protocols (OSPF, BGP, EIGRP)
- Solid understanding of MPLS technology
- Familiarity with a wide range of networking hardware
- Demonstrated track record of network design with Cisco Nexus and Cisco Catalyst
- Demonstrated track record of network security design with Juniper SRX firewalls
- Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Required
- Cisco Certified Design Professional (CCDP) – Required
- Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) – Highly Desirable
- Juniper JNCIP-SEC – Required
- Juniper JNCIS-SEC – Highly Desirable
- Solid understanding of hardware integration and testing processes
- Practical experience of validation and integration of hardware components on large, complex, software-based systems
- An experience with network provisioning and configuration automation, and a good level of knowledge of, and experience with Linux / RHEL and Microsoft Windows integration will be highly regarded.
