BDO's Global Expatriate & Employment Taxes Japanese team provides specialist expatriate and Australian employment taxes consulting and compliance services to a wide range of Japanese corporate clients across various industries.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Delivery of quality work, which displays a high level of technical competence and expertise, across all employment tax matters (including fringe benefits tax (FBT), superannuation guarantee, Pay-As-You-Go Withholding, payroll tax and WorkCover).
- Preparation of more complex advice and reviewing advice and compliance items.
- Preparation and/or review of tax returns including FBT returns, payroll tax returns and income tax returns for Japanese expatriate employees.
- Providing feedback and coaching to staff.
- Support the delivery of team and client technical training.
- Developing new opportunities through professional associations and networking as part of our national Japan Practice activities
- Contributing to tenders and winning new work.
- Managing and fostering relationships with Japanese clients.
- Effective financial management of workflow and teams. i.e. billing, budgets, productivity.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills Required:
- Japanese language skills (native level)
- Preferably one of CA/CPA (or overseas equivalent).
- CTA, Master of Taxation (or overseas equivalent).
- At least 5 years' experience in a similar role (preferably in professional services).
- Experience in working for Japanese companies (preferably in Japan) or deep understanding of Japanese corporate culture (if experience in professional services)
- Proficient user of Microsoft Office Suite: Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook
- Strong commitment to quality service and client relationships.
- Excellent understanding of taxation and legal issues and the commercial environment.
- Excellent client relationship focus both internally and externally.
- Demonstrated leadership ability.
- Ability to work collaboratively to achieve a positive outcome.
- Able to display drive and initiative through proactive behaviour.
