Reporting into Cyber Defense, this role ensures that on-premises, cloud, and hybrid network environments are securely architected, effectively monitored, and protected against evolving threats.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the network security capability, including strategy, roadmap, and oversight of controls protecting enterprise network infrastructure and connectivity.
- Design and maintain network security architectures, standards, and guardrails across on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
- Oversee the implementation, configuration, and lifecycle management of network security technologies such as firewalls, network segmentation, remote access, and secure connectivity solutions.
- Partner with Infrastructure, Cloud Services, and Digital teams to integrate network security into platform design, modernization, and transformation initiatives.
- Collaborate with Security Operations and Incident Response teams to support detection, investigation, and response to network‑based security events.
- Establish and mature network segmentation for sensitive environments (R&D, labs, executive networks, data centers, cloud landing zones), including third‑party and partner access.
- Ensure network security controls align with enterprise risk management, regulatory expectations, and internal security policies and standards.
- Establish metrics and reporting to demonstrate network security posture, control effectiveness, and continuous improvement to Cyber Defense leadership.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 6+ years of experience in cybersecurity or network security, with demonstrated responsibility for enterprise‑scale network environments.
- Proven expertise designing and operating enterprise network security controls (firewalls, segmentation, IDS/IPS, proxies/SWG, VPN/ZTNA).
- Experience operating security controls in large, complex, and regulated enterprise environments.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and deliver outcomes at scale.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in pharmaceutical, biotech, life sciences, or similarly regulated industries.
- Experience supporting manufacturing/OT (ICS) security and secure plant connectivity.
- Cloud networking and security experience (AWS/Azure/GCP), including transit, peering, private connectivity, and cloud-native controls.
- Familiarity with NDR, packet capture, and network telemetry pipelines integrated with SIEM/SOAR.
- Professional certifications such as CISSP, CCNP, CISM, GIAC, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate network security risks and design decisions to senior stakeholders.
- Demonstrated experience in an agile work environment possessing qualities such as a collaborative mindset, adaptability to change, and a proactive problem-solving approach.
