About the role 
 

We’re seeking a Senior Manager Employee Communications Strategy & Editorial who will be responsible for devising, leading and executing Transurban’s employee communications strategy to support the company’s purpose, strategy and culture ambitions, and to support employee engagement.  You will advocate for employee interests that can be advanced through communications using audience insights, data and analytics with a track in strategic employee communications and management of communications ecosystems. 
 

You’ll join an innovative team, where you will lead across Transurban and Corporate Affairs & Legal. To be successful you will collaborate across the business to strengthen Transurban's reputation in the eyes of its people and to support a high performing and engaged workforce.

Day-to-day, you will: 

  • Create the annual employee communications strategy to support delivery of leader, BU and employee communications to advance TU goals
  • Create frameworks and the playbook for enterprise-wide employee communications, business unit communications and People Leader communications
  • Devise and deliver an audience segmentation model to target and tailor communications content and channel preferences to the needs of our people. 
  • Roll-out a supporting program for a refreshed tone of voice for employee communications
  • Use data and insights to develop and deliver the employee communications strategy, and to drive ongoing content and channel performance improvement
  • Lead editorial and content strategy for key ecosystem components
  • Deliver content that attracts and engages employees to grow use of our channels

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferable skills and experiences, including: 

  • Experience in a leadership role within corporate communications or corporate affairs or who has led and managed external news channels, bringing an understanding of audience-led, data-driven communications to engage readers and listeners
  • Experience in leading editorial strategy across multiple channels to deliver audience improvements across usage, engagement and action 
  • Experience in managing an ecosystem of channels and programs, each with their own objectives but which all need to work together
  • Advanced advisory and campaign delivery to build confidence in organisational strategy and performance, optimism for an organisation’s future, trust in senior leaders and employee pride
  • Experience in developing, delivering and overseeing content development and production across multi-media formats and channels as well as in live events
  • Experience in leading and managing increased engagement in 2 way channels including improving sentiment
  • Experience in social media community and issues management
  • Experience in devising and launching major greenfield initiatives with measurable results (eg social media channels/platform, influencer programs, employee advocacy programs)
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with internal clients at all levels of the organisation, with Corporate Affairs and with key external stakeholders
  • Proven experience project managing the delivery of multiple corporate relations communications projects simultaneously within high pressure environments 
  • Proven experience in strategic planning aligned to key enterprise priorities and metrics 
  • Proven experience in devising and delivering enterprise employee communications  
  • Ability to manage and produce high quality content for a wide range of audiences 
  • Solid understanding of production processes and ability to manage project budgets and timelines accordingly
  • Ability to manage, direct and develop a team 
  • Highly motivated, results oriented, passionate about building high performing teams and a skilled and capable collaborator
