Job Expectations

We have an exciting opportunity at nbn for a Senior Manager, Commercial Solutions, reporting to the Executive Manager Commercial Strategy and Solutions.

A bit about your role

As the Senior Manager Commercial Solutions, you will be the subject matter expert working with both commercial and delivery teams in Infrastructure Planning & Delivery (IPD). The focus will be to deliver pragmatic solutions and thought leadership into strategy development. You will lead the team in the development of requirements gathering solution development, commercial solutions, contracts, and negotiations.

You will have the opportunity to establish and lead the commercial PMO and stakeholder management function. You are to manage the commercial strategy and the structure of projects across IPD, Procurement and broader nbn. You will be working with IPD delivery General Managers; industry partners and external sources to provide pragmatic solutioning and thought leadership into strategy development to ensure IPD Delivery team engagement.

  • Provide pragmatic experience based subject matter expertise (from previous delivery experience) into the strategy development and negotiation processes.
  • Provide solutions and subject matter expertise into strategies and contracts to ensure processes, systems and information flows are pragmatic, efficient and effective.
  • Lead the development of requirements gathering, solution development to support strategy development, commercial solutions, contracts and negotiations.
  • Drive the development, documentation and implementation of lessons learnt from commercial negotiations, contracts management to ensure mitigation of risks in future projects / contracts; and
  • Conduct Post Implementation Reviews (PIRs) of contracts / projects to assess contract performance against business case forecasts and work with delivery teams to improve sub-optimally performing contracts.

A bit about you

The successful candidate will bring extensive experience in establishing and leading a PMO function for large projects. A background successfully delivering against a diverse portfolio of responsibilities is essential. In addition, experience establishing and running cross-functional governance forums to get to business outcomes would be valuable.

You have exceptional stakeholder management, negotiating, problem solving and people leading skills. You will be a highly analytical thinker with the ability to deliver on commercial and / or corporate strategy outcomes in a large and complex organisation. You adopt a highly structured style and are results oriented. Moreover, you have the capacity to understand & apply a pragmatic commercial focus.
