Our Senior Legal Counsel is responsible for providing strategic, practical legal advice and commercial guidance to the  
Group Leadership Team (GLT) and sales representatives. The role ensures the organisation operates within legal and regulatory frameworks while supporting business growth, innovation, and risk management. The position plays a critical 
role in negotiating complex contracts, overseeing legal aspects of major projects, managing legal risks and translating legal requirements into practical, commercially pragmatic solutions and documentation for all parts of the business.  



Requirements

What you’ll do

• Provide strategic legal advice across technology, privacy, data protection and cybersecurity matters, translating legal risk into clear commercial implications for leadership.
• Support the organisation in responding to regulatory and legislative changes and maintaining compliance across operations.
• Draft, review and negotiate complex commercial contracts, including managed services agreements, MSAs, SOWs, SaaS and cloud agreements, vendor and supplier contracts, and technology licensing agreements.
• Partner with sales and delivery teams to structure commercially sound deals while effectively managing legal risk.
• Maintain and improve standard contract templates, negotiation playbooks and legal documentation standards.
• Provide legal oversight and support for major projects to ensure agreements align with commercial objectives and contractual obligations are clearly defined.
• Identify, assess and manage legal risks associated with client delivery, business operations and strategic initiatives.
• Manage legal disputes, claims and contractual issues, supporting early dispute resolution and risk mitigation strategies.
• Support corporate structuring initiatives, acquisitions, integrations and other strategic business activities.
• Strengthen internal governance, policies and risk management frameworks in collaboration with internal teams and external advisors.
• Build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and provide clear, practical legal guidance during project planning and execution.
• Drive continuous improvement in legal processes, contract workflows and legal service delivery, while staying up to date with developments in technology and commercial law.

What you’ll bring

• Admission as a legal practitioner in Australia with a current practising certificate.
• Strong private practice or in-house experience, particularly within technology, SaaS, telecommunications and/or managed services environments.
• Demonstrated experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial agreements and advising on technology-related transactions.
• Strong knowledge of e-commerce, corporate, procurement, intellectual property, privacy and technology law.
• Experience in dispute resolution and providing legal advisory support within complex organisations.
• Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks and statutory interpretation.
• Strong strategic and commercial thinking, with the ability to balance legal risk with practical business outcomes.
• Highly developed negotiation and influencing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal issues into clear, practical advice.
• High attention to detail, sound judgement and strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to manage multiple complex matters simultaneously in fast-paced and high-pressure environments.
• Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-management skills, with a collaborative approach across cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated leadership capability and ability to work effectively with diverse internal teams.
• Experience in a high-growth technology or services organisation (desirable).
• Exposure to mergers, acquisitions or corporate transactions (desirable).
• Knowledge of privacy and data protection frameworks (desirable).
• Experience with government procurement and contracting (desirable).
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement, including the development of legal tools, templates and efficient contract management practices (desirable).
