Our team designs, develops, and manages applications and infrastructure that support Akamai's Compute products and services. We do this while maintaining Akamai's mission at the forefront of what we do: make life better for billions of people, billions of times a day.

Partner with the best

In this role, you'll be at the forefront of Akamai Cloud hypervisor host technologies. HIVE is responsible for supplying our fleets with hardware and the host and guest Linux platforms that make them work. SEQ works to enable new hardware via our provisioning service, provide seamless firmware upgrade models, and collaborate with other HIVE teams.

As a Senior II Site Reliability Engineer Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Architecting, developing, testing, and distributing changes to software, services, and tools to enable hardware platforms delivered by the HIVE team.
  • Designing and implementing enhancements to HIVE observability infrastructure in order to identify and correct problems before they impact our customers
  • Developing subject matter expertise in HIVE components and mentoring the team.
  • Identifying and implementing automation best practices for existing products and processes.
  • Collaborating with our support, operations and engineering teams to investigate and troubleshoot complex problems.
  • Participating in on-call rotations, guiding restoration and repair of service-impacting issues.

Do what you love

To be successful in this role you will:

  • 8+ years of experience and a Bachelor's diploma in Computer Science or its equivalent
  • Possess a deep understanding of underlying hardware and best practices for enabling advanced HW features in Linux, especially for ARM architecture such as NVIDIA Grace.
  • Possess advanced level experience with the Linux kernel, OS, KVM/QEMU, and nested virtualization.
  • Possess expert level experience with designing, developing, and deploying software and infrastructure at scale
  • Have advanced level experience in a DevOps, Development, or SysAdmin role, working with large scale distributed systems
  • Have experience with tools like SaltStack and Ansible for managing infrastructure at scale

Compensation

Akamai is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. For US based candidates only - the base salary for this position ranges from $146,400 - $263,600/year; a candidate’s salary is determined by various factors including, but not limited to, relevant work experience, skills, certifications and location. Compensation for candidates outside the US will vary. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of annual bonus or incentives, equity awards and an Employee Stock Purchase Plan (ESPP).
