Your Team: 

The Financial Crime Operations team plays a critical role in protecting Colonial First State, our customers and clients from financial crime and fraud. The team is responsible for preventing, detecting and responding to financial crim risk while ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations. Working collaboratively across the business, the team provides specialist expertise, investigates potential financial crime activity, drives continuous improvement of risk management practices and helps strengthen our overall financial crime framework through industry insights, governance and operational excellence.


Your Responsibilities

  • Review and investigate financial crim alerts and cases across the Customer Due Diligence (CDD) lifecycle, ensuring timely and accurate outcomes.
  • Analyse customer activity, transactions and screening results to identify potential financial crim risk and determine appropriate action.
  • Conduct initial, ongoing and enhanced customer due diligence (ICDD, OCDD and EDCC) in line with AML/CTF obligations and internal policies.
  • Investigate and escalate unusual or suspicious customer activity, preparing high-quality recommendations and reports where required.
  • Identify and report high-risk customers, sanctions matches and other watchlist alerts in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation, ensuring all investigations meet quality standards and service level agreements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the business to support effective risk management and continuously improve financial crime processes.
  • Contribute to a strong risk culture by ensuring compliance with AML/CTF legislation, regulatory requirements and internal policies.


Your Capability and Experience

  • Proven Financial Crime Operation experience within financial services, with experience in wealth management highly regarded.
  • Demonstrated expertise across Customer Due Diligence (CDD), transaction monitoring, customer screening and Enhanced Due Diligence (ECDD).
  • Strong knowledge of AML/CTF legislation, sanctions, PEP obligations and financial crime typologies within a regulated environment.
  • Experience using financial crime technology platforms, with demonstrated proficiency in the SAS financial Crime application essential.
  • Proven ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to analysts while coordinating work in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence outcomes across multiple business areas.
  • Excellent analytical, problem- solving and communication skills, with a focus on delivering high quality customer and business outcomes
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry certification (Such as CAMS) are highly regarded
