The Purpose

As a Senior Financial Accountant at AP+, you will be responsible for the day-to-day finance functions to ensure the accurate recording and timely reporting of financial information for AP+ in accordance with Australian Accounting Standards and Company policies.

This role also supports Treasury, Tax and compliance obligations, with a core focus on year-end and audit requirements

Expected day-to-day activities:

Audit & Financial Statements

  • Provide supporting documentation and analysis for the year-end external audit.
  • Assist in the preparation and review of statutory financial statements.

Month End

  • Prepare, review and post month-end journals as required.
  • Support timely and accurate month-end close processes.

Reconciliations

  • Prepare and review high-quality balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Ensure adherence to accounting standards and AP+ policies.

Technical Accounting

  • Apply accounting standards to operational matters.
  • Prepare technical accounting memos and provide advice on areas such as leasing and commercial agreements.

Tax

  • Support the management of AP+’s tax obligations as required.

Financial Compliance

  • Assist in ensuring AP+ meets its compliance obligations and compulsory government reporting requirements.

 Experience & Background:

You are a technically strong and collaborative finance professional who thrives in a dynamic payments environment. You bring:

  • An undergraduate degree in Finance, Economics or Accounting.
  • CPA or CA qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years’ directly relevant finance experience within a payment’s organisation.
  • External audit experience.
  • Experience in the preparation and review of financial statements.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify issues and work collaboratively to deliver solutions.
  • A proactive mindset during change, encouraging flexibility and helping others see opportunities.
  • A collaborative approach, working effectively across teams and with external stakeholders.
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality outputs on time.
  • A leadership style that fosters psychological safety, values diverse perspectives, and empowers others to take ownership and try new solutions.
