Are you a seasoned finance leader with a passion for optimizing shareholder returns and shaping strategic investments? We're on the hunt for a Senior Finance Manager - Capital & Corporate Advisory to join our dynamic team.
Reporting into the Head of Finance - Capital, Property & Formats, this critical role, you'll lead the charge on our 3-year capital strategy and planning, directly influencing the deployment of capital across our entire group. You'll partner closely with our Group Property team to optimize investments within our retail network, while also collaborating with finance leaders on all other capital deployment initiatives. You'll look for exciting growth opportunities, secure essential capital for sustained business operations, and guarantee that every investment delivers exceptional returns for our shareholders.
Beyond strategy, you'll be instrumental in the financial execution of our investments. This means leading everything from establishing robust project budgets and overseeing assets under construction (AUC) to meticulously reviewing capital investment disclosures in our financial reports. We'll rely on your expert judgment to review high-value or complex business cases, and you'll collaborate with business owners to unearth key performance drivers that unlock future investment insights. Furthermore, you'll spearhead long-term financial planning for our extensive property network, empowering our retail finance and property teams to identify and quantify growth opportunities, mitigate risks, and optimize overall network performance. As a senior leader, your contributions will also extend to shaping and achieving the broader team's strategic goals and objectives.

Here is a taster of what you can expect in this role:
The Senior Finance Manager - Capital & Corporate Property Network, supported by a team of finance analysts, has the following primary responsibilities:
- Lead the 3 year capital strategy and planning process, identifying investment opportunities for growth and assessing minimum capital investment requirements to sustain the current business, determining if investment returns are aligned to shareholder expectations, and advising on appropriate investment hurdles to support achievement of returns.
- Lead the prioritisation of capital projects for the budget period, and maintain a reporting and forecast framework to ensure investment is realised in line with plan.
- Lead processes to ensure capital spend is approved in accordance with the DOA policy, including establishment of effective approval workflows for committee review of investments, and oversight of business cases approved under divisional DOA.
- Lead the process and system aspects of investment delivery including establishment of project budgets, oversight of AUC/capitalisation and review of financial report disclosures for capital investment. Be the business lead for development of future capital accounting and reporting processes in the OET program.
- Provide independent and expert review / support for business cases which have a high level materiality, complexity or risk.
- Understand drivers of under/over performance, working with business owners to unlock and share insights for future investments.
- Lead the long term financial planning processes for the property network, supporting the retail finance and property teams in the identification and quantification of network growth opportunities, network risks and opportunities to optimise network performance.
- Evaluation of organic network opportunities and risks through business case development to approval, budgeting and impact on forecast results.
- As a senior finance manager and people leader, contribute to the shape and implementation of broader teams goals and objectives.
Now let’s talk about you
- 10+ years experience, including commercial and capital investment finance
- Experience working within a large complex ASX listed organisation
- Previous or current experience within one of the Big 4 consulting firms highly regarded
- Qualified accountant (CA/CPA)
- Retail / FMCG experience highly regarded
- Proven leadership ability within a large complex organisation
- Excellent communication skills, able to influence key business partners
- Excellent presentation and reporting skills
- Commercial thinker, able to critically evaluate and solve problems
- Self-starter who continuously improves processes and outcomes
- Expertise in developing and reviewing investment proposals / business cases for complex programs of work and projects
- Strong analytical background including valuation and modelling skills, investment decision making
- Extensive experience building and reviewing financial models
- Experience in investments benefits tracking
