About the Role
The Senior Enterprise Architect plays a pivotal role in shaping Bunnings’ technology strategy and architectural vision. Operating at the intersection of business and technology, this role ensures that the enterprise architecture underpins our strategic goals—driving scalability, agility, and innovation across our retail value chain.
From supply chain and merchandising to digital commerce and customer experience, the Senior Enterprise Architect ensures our technology investments deliver business value, support capability uplift, and align with our long-term strategic priorities.
Key Responsibilities include:
Strategic Architecture Leadership
Define and maintain current and target state enterprise architectures across Bunnings’ technology landscape.
Develop and manage architectural roadmaps to guide transitions from current to future state.
Ensure technology investments are aligned to business capabilities and strategic priorities.
Provide architectural oversight and governance on major initiatives and strategic programs.
Collaborate with domain architects across Data, Integration, Customer & Martech, Core Retail, and People & Corporate domains to ensure cohesive architectural outcomes
Design, Delivery & Innovation
Apply principles of Design Thinking, Agile, Lean, and Human-Centered Design to architectural practices.
Partner with business and technology leaders to understand strategic priorities and translate them into actionable architectural solutions.
Evaluate emerging technologies, assess their relevance, and guide adoption to enhance business outcomes.
Ensure architectures adhere to security, regulatory, and data management standards.
Work closely with Solution Architects and delivery teams to ensure designs align with enterprise direction.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication
Influence and guide senior stakeholders on technology decisions and investments.
Communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
Foster strong partnerships across business and technology teams to support effective decision-making.
Mentorship & Capability Building
Mentor and develop junior architects and contribute to building architectural maturity across the organisation.
Promote a culture of architectural thinking, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Key Skills & Experience
Extensive experience in enterprise architecture within large, complex organisations, ideally in retail or consumer-facing industries.
Deep understanding of retail business processes, including supply chain, POS, merchandise, eCommerce, Customer and Loyalty Systems
Expertise in architecture frameworks (e.g TOGAF) Use of Ardoq would be of value
Strong technical foundation in cloud platforms, integration patterns, data architecture, and security principles.
Exceptional stakeholder engagement, communication, and influencing skills.
