Senior Engineering Manager/Chapter Lead, Software Engineering

We’re embarking on a major engineering transformation, with a strong focus on hands-on technical leadership and the implementation of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and associated customer engagement platforms across CommBank’s public-facing digital ecosystem.

This is a Chapter Lead role with real engineering depth — ideal for someone who still loves building, designing, and implementing complex platforms, while also coaching and leading high-performing teams.

As we move from design into large-scale implementation of CommBank’s public site and experimentation platforms, we’re looking for a Chapter Lead who can lead from the front — technically and culturally.

As Chapter Lead for Customer Engagement & Comms Software Engineering, you’ll lead a talented team of engineers to shape the future of our Group’s CMS platform, Experimentation framework and Customer Data Platform. You’ll own the solution design, drive performance, and lead the charge on innovative technologies that elevate our services and transform the customer experience.

• Lead the hands-on implementation of Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and related Adobe ecosystem products.

• Own end-to-end solution design across Content Management Systems, experimentation, and customer data platforms.

• Coach and develop a high-performing chapter of Adobe engineers across multiple locations.

• Partner closely with Marketing, Product, UX, and external agencies on a high-visibility public site.

• Drive vendor evaluation, competitor analysis, and RFP processes for Adobe and related platforms.

• Set engineering standards and uplift DevSecOps, CI/CD, and platform reliability practices.

• Act as a trusted technical leader for senior stakeholders across the bank.

We’re interested in hearing from people who have the following experience/skills:

• Leadership & Delivery: Proven experience leading high-performing, cross-functional engineering teams that thrive on innovation, collaboration, and delivering scalable, enterprise-grade solutions in fast-paced environments.

• CMS Expertise: Deep understanding of CMS platforms and services, with a track record of driving complex, full-cycle software engineering solutions across enterprise content ecosystems (essential). Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) and Adobe ecosystem tools.

• Customer Data Platform: Experience in Real Time Customer Data Platform like AEP or Salesforce etc (Desirable)

• Backend Engineering: Strong background in backend development using .NET and/or Java, with expertise in microservices architecture and RESTful API design (essential).

• Cloud Native Development: Experience building and deploying applications in AWS, leveraging cloud-native services and infrastructure (essential).

• DevSecOps Mindset: Demonstrated ability to lead with a DevSecOps approach, embedding security and automation throughout the development lifecycle (e.g. SonarQube, Snyk, GitHub Actions).

• CI/CD & Automation: Skilled in implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines using tools like GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins, and Bitbucket Pipelines.

• Infrastructure as Code & Monitoring: Proficient in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform or AWS CloudFormation, and experienced with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, and AWS CloudWatch to ensure system reliability and observability.
