Title:

Senior Drainage Engineer
Our Purpose

We’re here to deliver better infrastructure for a better tomorrow.

We design smart, sustainable transport solutions that support today’s needs and prepare communities for tomorrow’s challenges—connecting major cities, regions, and remote areas with safer, more efficient movement of people.

Sustainability guides every project we deliver. We design with care for people and the planet, helping communities grow and future cities flourish. We don’t just improve travel—we create connected, vibrant places that respect heritage and bring people together.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Drainage Engineer, you’ll lead the delivery of major transport projects across Victoria. You’ll take ownership of drainage design from concept to completion—shaping solutions for roads, rail, and other large‑scale infrastructure.

You’ll lead design teams, mentor emerging engineers, and manage project delivery to meet quality, safety, budget, and schedule expectations. You’ll also play a key role in building strong client relationships and producing clear, accurate, and technically robust reports and proposals.

This role places you at the forefront of high‑impact projects shaping Australia’s transport networks for decades to come.

Who You Are

You’re an accomplished Senior Drainage Engineer with extensive experience delivering civil infrastructure projects. You bring advanced technical expertise, a collaborative approach, and confidence leading multidisciplinary teams.

You bring:
  • A degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
  • Extensive experience delivering infrastructure projects with consultants, contractors, and government agencies
  • Advanced drainage design skills and proficiency in modelling software
  • Strong knowledge of relevant design codes (Austroads, State Transport Authority guidelines)
  • Chartered Professional Engineer status (or ability to achieve within six months)
What We Do

KBR’s Infrastructure Services team is shaping a smarter, more sustainable future for Australia. We deliver solutions across transport, water, defence, and the built environment, partnering with clients nationwide throughout every stage of the project lifecycle.

With more than 1,200 experts across the country, we bring global insights and local understanding together. Our teams are digitally enabled, agile, and focused on delivering positive social and environmental outcomes.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
