The company is headquartered in Melbourne, Australia and has offices in the UK, Cyprus, Bulgaria, Philippines, and Bahamas.
The Engineering team is essential in ensuring seamless system interoperability and enhancing operational efficiency across the organisation. The Engineering team collaborates to provide the successful candidate with a great knowledge base of the company and the broader financial services industry.
The Senior Cloud Engineer plays a strategic and hands-on role in the design, automation, and management of Eightcap’s multi-region cloud infrastructure. This position combines technical leadership with team management, ensuring cloud environments are highly available, cost-efficient, and secure.
The role involves leading a small team of engineers (typically 2–4 FTEs) responsible for infrastructure automation, monitoring, CI/CD, and working with cloud security. The Senior Cloud Engineer will dedicate approximately 30–40% of their time to management and leadership activities (1.5–2 days per week), with the remaining time focused on architecture, technical delivery, and hands-on problem-solving

- Implement cost optimization strategies and capacity planning for compute, storage, and network workloads
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead and mentor a team of 2–4 Cloud Engineers and DevOps specialists.
- Allocate and prioritize engineering workloads aligned with strategic goals.
- Conduct weekly 1:1s, performance reviews, and continuous coaching to support growth.
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Engineering, Security, and DevOps teams to align delivery with broader company objectives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, documentation, and proactive problem-solving.
Security & Compliance
- Enforce cloud security best practices, IAM least-privilege policies, and continuous compliance monitoring.
- Collaborate with the Cybersecurity team on incident response, patching, and configuration hardening.
- Support ISO-style audit readiness (infrastructure evidence, risk remediation).
- Manage secrets, keys, and encryption policies across environments.
Automation & Continuous Delivery
- Design and manage CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions) for consistent and auditable deployments.
- Drive automation in provisioning, configuration management, and patching processes.
- Partner with application engineering teams to enable self-service infrastructure workflows and standardized templates.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Projects
- Partner with developers, data engineers, and security analysts to enable reliable service delivery.
- Contribute to architectural reviews, incident post-mortems, and capacity planning sessions.
- Document standards, runbooks, and architecture diagrams to ensure operational transparency

- Strong scripting skills (Python, Bash, or Go).
- Exposure to compliance frameworks (ISO 27001, SOC 2).
- Excellent communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in financial services, fintech, or high-availability trading systems.
