A great opportunity has presented itself for a Senior DevOps & Site Reliability Engineer, reporting to the Executive Manager Advanced Engineering, where you will join the Incubation & Innovation Engineering team.
A bit about your role
In this role, you will join a small but highly focused incubation team responsible for building and maintaining reliable, scalable applications deployed on modern cloud infrastructure. The team functions as an incubator for nbn, rapidly developing and deploying innovative solutions that support operational business units. Your work will centre on driving operational excellence, building automation that accelerates delivery, and ensuring production stability while enabling high‑velocity software development.
You will make extensive use of cloud‑native technologies, infrastructure‑as‑code, and Site Reliability Engineering practices to design and implement resilient systems. Your focus will be on enabling engineering teams to deploy confidently, scale effectively, and respond quickly to incidents. As part of delivering leading‑edge business applications, you will design robust, fault‑tolerant infrastructure that supports solutions with the potential to move into production environments.
A key part of this position involves balancing the incubator’s need for rapid experimentation with the discipline required to maintain stability. You will understand when to rely on proven engineering patterns and when to explore emerging capabilities. You will play a central role in shaping reusable infrastructure blueprints, creating self‑service capabilities, and uplifting operational maturity across the incubator. Just as importantly, you will help embed reliability thinking from the outset of each solution, mentoring others to adopt high‑quality engineering behaviours and championing operational excellence across the team.
A bit about you
If this sounds like the role for you, it is likely that you bring deep expertise in DevOps and SRE practices, combined with extensive experience operating and scaling cloud‑based and distributed systems. You have a strong passion for automation, engineering quality, and building high‑availability systems. You demonstrate composure and precision when diagnosing complex issues, and you thrive in environments that require both rapid iteration and strong engineering discipline. You are confident influencing technical direction, guiding teams on best‑practice operational design, and creating systems that are stable, scalable, and positioned to grow. Above all, you recognise that infrastructure is an enabler of innovation and take pride in developing platforms and processes that empower others to deliver excellent software.
