Shell Energy is shaping the future of cleaner, smarter energy solutions across Australia. We’re seeking a skilled Senior Engineer to support the secure, reliable, and efficient operation of our applications enabling our teams to deliver exceptional outcomes for customers and communities.
If you enjoy solving complex engineering challenges, collaborating with technical teams, and driving continuous improvement, this role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
As our Senior Engineer, you will support the day-to-day performance and stability of critical applications, contribute to engineering design, and ensure our systems meet security, availability, and compliance requirements. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, mentor other engineers, and proactively identify opportunities to enhance system performance and resilience.
With respect, integrity and honesty, responsibilities include:
Monitor and maintain the performance, security, and availability of key applications.
Triage, prioritise, and resolve incidents across multiple platforms and sources.
Contribute to engineering design, development, testing, validation, and documentation.
Perform security audits, backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities.
Stay up to date with emerging technologies and apply best-practice engineering standards.
Mentor and support engineers, fostering collaboration, capability growth, and knowledge sharing.
Here’s what you’ll need to thrive in this role:
Experience across software development, Agile delivery, and modern engineering practices.
Strong understanding of infrastructure components (servers, storage, networks, databases).
Hands-on experience with DevOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines, automation and containerisation.
Proficiency in scripting/programming (Python, C#, Typescript) and cloud technologies (AWS ideal).
Knowledge of ITIL processes, cybersecurity principles, and compliance requirements.
Excellent problem-solving skills, communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with technical and business teams.
