Senior BI Consultant

Key role of the Senior BI Consultant is rebuilding existing business reports, integrating with modern data platforms such as Databricks, and collaborating closely with domain experts. The role includes structured handover from a legacy team, as well as delivering new insights through high-quality, scalable BI solutions using the Microsoft data stack.
The ability to work alongside and engage with SME’s is as relevant as technical capabilities.

Responsibilities:

• Design, build, and publish Power BI reports, interactive dashboards, and datasets as deliverables for various teams, ensuring they meet business requirements and provide effective data visualisations

• Develop efficient and reusable DAX measures, Power Query (M) transformations, and semantic models following dimensional modeling methodologies and integrated with Databricks and Azure-based sources

• Ensure data quality and performance by applying best practices during development to validate data models, identify performance issues, and ensure the delivery of high-quality datasets that require minimal ongoing support

• Actively contribute feedback to iterate BI standards, frameworks, and guidelines across development, visual design, business rules and governance

• Create comprehensive project and technical documentation for solutions to facilitate knowledge transfer and ongoing maintenance

• Actively contribute to future roadmap activities including developer and self-service enablement as well as Lakehouse development and the advancement of analytic automation and maturity

• Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and SMEs to validate requirements and align outputs with financial business logic

• Contribute to the Agile delivery process, working in sprints

Required Experience and Skills

• 3-7+ years hands-on experience developing Power BI solutions in enterprise environments

• Solid understanding of DAX, Power Query, and data modeling techniques (e.g., star schema)

• Experience working with Databricks, including querying Delta Lake or integrating with Spark tables

• Proven track record of migrating or rebuilding reports from legacy systems to Power BI

• Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage directly with business SMEs and stakeholders

• Experience working with Azure data tools (e.g., Azure Data Lake, SQL DB, Synapse)

• Familiarity with source control and deployment workflows (e.g., Git, Azure DevOps)

• Ability to translate and present complex data

• Documentation and collaboration tools (i.e. Jira, Confluence, Miro, Lucid)
