We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Consultant with Japanese language skills and strong technical skills who is keen to learn and work across all aspects of the team’s activities, with a focus on Japanese companies and their expatriate taxes.
Our Expatriate and Employment Taxes team work on large sized Japanese multinational clients providing tax compliance and consulting services across all tax related aspects of their Japanese expatriate employee population.
Key Responsibilities:
Reviewing advice on Japanese expatriate tax compliance, planning and optimisation matters.
Tax compliance including preparation of expatriate personal tax returns, Fringe Benefits Tax returns, Payroll Tax returns etc, working as part of a team.
Australian Employee Share Plan advice and compliance activities for cross-border Japanese expatriate employees.
Conducting expatriate tax briefings in Japanese language and managing expatriate employee programs
Providing commentary to Federal Treasury, Australian Taxation Office and the media on recent developments in taxation.
Preparing tax technical papers to clients as a part of our national Japan Practice activities
Reviewing work prepared by junior members of the team and provide coaching/guidance where needed.
Owning, managing, and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships.
Supporting Managers and Senior Managers with day-to-day team, workflow, and project management.
Supporting the delivery of team and client technical training.
To set you up for success you’ll need:
Japanese language skills (native level)
Minimum 2 years Expatriate and Employment Taxes experience
Strong commitment to quality service and client relationships
Strong writing and analytical skills with interest to develop these further
Ability to liaise at all levels of an organisation, and build relationships
Strong research skills
Experience in a busy Tax or Business Services consulting organization, ATO or revenue office
CA (or equivalent) qualified or near completion.
