We’re BDO, a global professional services firm connected to local markets. Our people work together to provide specialist expertise, helping businesses achieve their goals.

We inspire others, to go further. We create together, to reach higher. We build trust, to lead purposefully.

Whether you're building your future or starting your career with us, you won’t do it alone. From creating solutions for our clients to building careers for our people, we shape what matters, and that’s where you come in.

About the Role

Our Payroll Consulting team is an exciting, fast-paced, ever-changing and growing environment. As employers discovered the difficulties in maintaining compliance with their Industry Award or Enterprise Agreement, and Underpayments became apparent, the need for this service grew. Criminalisation has brought even higher focus to the importance of this area.

We assist clients with understanding whether they are at risk of underpaying their employees in line with the relevant Industry Award or Enterprise Agreement, and calculate those underpayments through historical reconciliations.

We are looking for a Consultant to work across all aspects of payroll compliance projects, focused on Award & EBA employee underpayment reviews and reconciliation, including:

  • Address matters relating to payroll compliance, industry awards, data cleansing, and reconciliation modelling

  • Reconciliation tool design, build and implementation (using excel and other platforms)

  • Analysis of Complex Excel Workbooks for review and simplification

  • Maintain and monitor project plans, schedules and tasks (in alignment to frameworks)

  • Organise and attend stakeholder/client meeting, manage client relationships

  • Documenting and following up on key actions from meetings

About You

Our ideal candidate comes with project management experience from a professional services or consulting background. Analysts who have worked on large data and employment projects outside of this space and can see themselves moving into the wage compliance space, should also consider applying.

Skills and experience required:

  • Proficient in Excel (essential), Alteryx, Power BI or similar platforms

  • Proven ability to lead client workshops and meetings, facilitating discussions, gathering requirements, and presenting solutions with confidence

  • Exposure to payroll compliance / payroll remediation projects would be highly regarded

  • Knowledge of pay compliance landscape would be advantageous

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
