The Commercial Manager, Personal Loans AU/NZ is responsible for driving sustainable growth and profitability of the Personal Loans business. This role operates as a key member of the Product and Commercial team, and sits at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and execution translating data-driven insights into commercial outcomes across pricing, product, distribution, and performance management.
The role partners closely with Credit, Risk, Finance, Marketing, and Distribution to optimise growth while maintaining disciplined returns.
This role is responsible for supporting and executing the product and portfolio strategy across Personal Loans and Motor Loans, with a focus on delivering sustainable revenue growth, strong customer outcomes and disciplined risk management. The role contributes across the end-to-end product lifecycle, including pricing, portfolio performance management, analysis, and continuous improvement. The role helps balance growth objectives, ensuring the portfolios remain competitive, scalable and aligned to future market needs.
What will you contribute to?
Commercial Strategy & Growth
- Develop and execute commercial strategies to drive profitable growth across the Personal Loans & Auto portfolio
- Identify and evaluate growth opportunities across customer segments, channels, and products
- Support new product initiatives, enhancements, and market expansion opportunities, in conjunction with the Product Management team.
- Optimise existing customer strategies across retention, redraw, and top up transactions.
Analytics & Performance Management
- Optimise and champion key commercial metrics including volume, margin, yield, RAI
- Analyse portfolio performance including detailed vintage analysis, customer behaviour, and channel economics to inform decision-making.
- Build and maintain forecasting models, business cases, and scenario analysis
- Monitor performance against targets and recommend corrective actions where required
Pricing & Product Economics
- Support pricing strategies that balance growth, competitiveness, and risk-adjusted returns
- Assess the impact of pricing, policy, and product changes on portfolio performance
- Work with Risk and Credit teams to ensure commercial objectives align with risk appetite
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with internal stakeholders across Risk, Credit, Finance, Operations, and Marketing
- Provide clear, data-driven insights and recommendations to senior leadership
- Lead and coordinate key performance forum with high-quality reporting and commercial analysis.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify process, reporting, and analytical improvements to enhance decision-making
- Contribute to a culture of commercial discipline and performance accountability to ensure initiatives deliver intended commercial and customer outcomes.
- Demonstrate new ways of working and enhance capability through AI.
What you’ll bring:
Experience
- 5–7+ years’ experience in commercial, analytical, or strategy roles within financial services
- Experience in personal loans, consumer finance, banking, or fintech strongly preferred
- Demonstrated track record of driving growth through data-led insights
- AI-native - regularly leverages AI tools to enhance decision-making, automate reporting, accelerate content creation, and drive greater efficiency across your team
Technical & Analytical Capability
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into clear commercial actions
- Advanced Excel / financial modelling capability; experience with BI tools highly regarded
- Comfortable working with large datasets and performance metrics
Commercial Acumen
- Strong understanding of unit economics, margins, and portfolio performance
- Ability to balance growth ambition with disciplined returns
- Experience influencing outcomes without direct authority
