The Financial Services purpose is to offer home finance and other financial services to those using realestate.com.au for their property search. Given the opportunity of the size of that audience, the FS vision is to integrate a consumer’s property search with finance though a world class digital seamless process.
This will be achieved by building innovative consumer search and property finance application experiences that integrate the mortgage distribution channels of digital, phone and face to face. The financial services team is accountable for strategy development and execution, working with our banking and mortgage broker partners to build our capability and product offerings, leading sales management and engaging across the other lines of business in REA.
What the role is all about
The Senior Commercial Analyst will be a key business partner supporting the Financial Services line of business. They will provide analysis and insights with a view to maximising commercial outcomes.
- Drive and deliver accurate budgets, forecasts and long-range plans, incorporating financial & non-financial metrics aligned to Financial Services’ strategy
- Detailed analysis of business drivers and competitor performance to identify insights and trends. Present findings and recommendations to leadership team
- Own month-end revenue close and results
- Own, maintain and build the forecast revenue model for Financial Services.
- Manage, coordinate and own the valuation of the Trail Book, working closely with the FS data team.
- Lead the financial modelling for new initiatives and partnerships - work with the business to deliver financially viable strategies on new business models
- Collaboration, coaching and support to the Financial Services Commercial Analyst across expense close, forecasting, opex/capex analysis and reporting
- Handle and interpret large datasets and work with the Financial Services data team to uncover insights that support decision making
- Respond to and actively seek out opportunities to improve current processes, systems and tools
- Strong financial control discipline, ensuring relevant SOX compliance requirements are met
- Proactively partner with and influence key stakeholders
- Drive improvements in reporting/analysis for management team, executive leadership and Board level reporting
- Keep abreast with mortgage industry and market trends, proactively identify and manage internal and external financial risks and opportunities with the business
Who we’re looking for
Our ideal candidate would have skills in the following areas:
- CPA or CA qualified
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- 8+ years experience working in a commercially focused/business partnering capacity with prior Big 4 experience
- Financial modelling, budgeting and forecasting experience, including advanced modelling such as DCF valuations.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
- Strong initiative, willingness to take ownership and a team player
- High attention to detail with tenacity to problem solve
- Strong written and oral communication
- Advanced Excel skills and comfortable working with data to surface insights
- Demonstrated commercial acumen and ability to manage a diverse stakeholder group
Additional skills and experience that would be highly desirable:
- Experience with using Adaptive Planning or other similar planning tools
- Experience with data warehouse tools
- Mortgage broking and/or banking industry experience
