The Senior Cloud DevOps Engineer will design, implement, and maintain secure, resilient, and scalable cloud solutions to support critical organisational capabilities. The role involves working closely with development and stakeholder teams to deliver cloud-based services efficiently, leveraging automation, infrastructure-as-code, and DevSecOps practices. The engineer will identify opportunities to optimise, streamline, and improve cloud platforms while ensuring compliance with security and governance standards.

This is a 12 month contract role.


Requirements

What you'll do:

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure, resilient, and scalable cloud solutions.
  • Deliver cloud capabilities that meet technical, business, and security requirements up to PROTECTED level.
  • Collaborate with development teams and stakeholders to optimise AWS services for cost, performance, security, and reliability.
  • Identify opportunities to consolidate, simplify, and improve cloud-based systems and workflows.
  • Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, Python/Boto3, Ansible).
  • Configure and manage multi-account AWS environments, networks, and security (VPC, Transit Gateway, Palo Alto NGFW, Network Firewall).
  • Deploy and maintain shared platform services (SSO, logging, monitoring, automation).
  • Integrate cloud services with external systems such as Azure identities, SIEM, and monitoring tools.
  • Implement DevSecOps practices, security scanning, event-driven automation, and patch management.
  • Build observability dashboards, respond to alerts, perform root cause analysis, and apply preventive measures.

What you'll bring:

  • Advanced AWS skills: Organizations, Control Tower, Account Factory, IAM, SSO, VPC, Transit Gateway, Lambda, CloudTrail, CloudWatch, Security Hub, GuardDuty, Inspector.
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code, automation, CI/CD, GitOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and ArgoCD.
  • Knowledge of cloud security, governance, and compliance frameworks (PSPF, ISM, E8).
  • Minimum 5 years’ AWS cloud engineering experience in large-scale, multi-account environments.
  • Experience in DevSecOps, platform automation, and infrastructure optimisation.
  • Experience in regulated or government sectors preferred.
  • Strong systems design, risk assessment, and impact analysis skills.
  • Stakeholder engagement, leadership, and project management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Active NV1 or higher security clearance is highly preferred.
  • Australian Citizenship (mandatory).
