Which team is this in
The Senior Capability Specialist sits within our Customer Excellence function, which strives to build a reputation for outstanding customer experience and service excellence that unifies our teams.
The key focus will be to develop and nurture capability across REA sales teams and embed a customer-centric culture that drives profitable customer behaviour and plans. This includes working collaboratively with sales, success, sales support, customer marketing, product and customer operations to increase sales results and productivity, as well as providing actionable performance insights that inspire a sprint and marathon spirit across the team.
Day to day of the job
Design and deliver learning that drives performance: Create effective training programs that realise commercial outcomes, drive business growth, and align sales teams on commercial priorities.
Lead end-to-end capability design: Own the full design lifecycle — from needs analysis and solution design through to pilot, delivery, and measurement of impact.
Develop learning experiences that shift behaviour: Design and facilitate programs that build technical and behavioural capability, challenge individual thinking, and lift sales effectiveness.
Champion REA’s sales philosophy: Embed customer-centric thinking and value-based conversations throughout all learning experiences.
Onboard, enable and inspire sales teams: Deliver high-impact onboarding and continuous development for salespeople of all levels, across face-to-face and virtual environments.
Foster a simulation and coaching culture: Create opportunities for practice through simulations, role plays, and observation-based coaching. Work with Sales Managers to lift capability through feedback, modelling and coaching moments.
Partner and co-design: Collaborate with leaders, subject matter experts, and colleagues in the Customer Excellence team to co-design programs that support strategic initiatives (e.g. pricing changes, new product launches, sales transformation).
Leverage modern learning methods: Blend trainer-led sessions, self-paced learning, and digital resources for flexible, scalable learning delivery.
Create high-quality content and tools: Develop facilitation guides, playbooks, presentations, toolkits, and job aids that reinforce learning and enable ongoing skill application.
Be in the field: Spend time with sales teams and leaders to observe, coach, and provide feedback that drives real-world performance uplift.
Diagnose and prioritise capability needs: Conduct learning needs analyses and define capability frameworks that inform annual learning plans and performance outcomes.
Measure and report impact: Evaluate learning effectiveness through data, feedback, and performance metrics, ensuring programs are continuously improved and tied to commercial results.
Act as a trusted advisor: Be a thought partner to sales leadership, providing insights on performance trends, capability gaps, and strategies to build a high-performing culture.
Who we’re looking for
Willingness to challenge the status quo, lead with opinion and create positive change and looks at tricky situations through a solutions-focused lens
Display knowledge and understanding of current best practises in online education, delivery methods, approaches, tech & tools
Strong communicator with the ability to influence and co-ordinate efforts with all levels and groups
Confident and experienced facilitator and presenter
Advanced knowledge of adult learning principles
History of strong performance in training, coaching or leadership roles of developing skills, transferring knowledge and changing behaviours
Digital Sales, Marketing and/or Advertising experience is desirable
Experience in working with sales teams
Willingness to travel interstate
