The role

We are currently seeking a talented Senior Transport Modeller (Senior Associate Level) to work within our Victoria Transport Advisory team. Based out of our Melbourne office, you will influence and be exposed to State and National projects.

With a minimum of 12 years’ experience in Transport Modelling, Transport Planning or Traffic Engineering, you will play a key role to:

  • Support the Team Leader to increase market share and continue as a top tier transport modelling and analytics consultancy across Australia and in new geographical markets
  • Project/Design management of transport modelling and analysis projects; including client management, financial management and contract administration of delegated transport infrastructure projects
  • Successfully communicate the ‘story’ behind the data and influence SMEC’s current and future infrastructure projects
  • Ensure that analysis and design tasks undertaken meet appropriate technical standards and the outgoing deliverable requirements exceed of the client and SMEC
  • Proactively collaborate with team members, other SMEC teams, contributors and stakeholders to maintain quality, timeliness and co-ordination of project deliverables
  • Actively contribute to the commercial success of projects and the team

With a track record of achievement in a similar role, you will have gained your experience in an engineering design consultancy and have a passion for building trusted relationships to drive positive change and win new work. Suitable applicants will have/be:

  • a Bachelor’s Degree (Engineering/Computer Science/Mathematics) or Equivalent
  • Competently provide key technical expertise and analysis across a broad range of major projects
  • Manage risk and deliverables on all projects
  • Deliver best-client outcomes which have provided cost savings and value engineering
  • Experience or knowledge of Python, Alteryx, Tableau, JSON or the development / application of APIs
  • International or National practical experience in at least one of the following transport modelling software packages - Vissim, Visum, Aimsun, EMME, CUBE or equivalent
  • Active involvement in the industry through industry bodies, papers, conferences etc.
  • Effectively lead small teams and contribute to building and mentoring the technical capability and communication skills of others
  • Ability to establish and develop client relationships
  • Undertake key technical tasks with autonomy and independence across a broad range of projects
