We are an ASX top 15 company, focussed, professional, innovative and at the forefront of workplace culture.  We actively aim to stay at the forefront of both technology advancement and employee satisfaction.

About the role

We’re seeking a Senior Analyst to work within our Strategy and Transport Analytics team, supporting programs of works and contributing to data analysis, modelling and reporting of the Traffic group.

You’ll join an innovative Transport Analytics team who are responsible for managing large traffic and demographic datasets, selecting new data, timely delivery of quantitative analytics and insights, the development and maintenance of appropriate analytical tools, execution of relevant research activities, and for the creation of insights for internal and external stakeholders.

As our Senior Analyst, you’ll contribute to lasting and positive changes that shape the future of our cities and communities. It’s meaningful, challenging and exciting work.

Day-to-day, you will:

  • Analyse traffic, economic, and demographic data to extract key insights. Interpret the findings, identify trends and patterns, and effectively communicate these using appropriate visualization techniques

  • Develop your understanding of traffic networks and people’s travel behaviour on roads, including the intricate role of toll roads and their contribution to the overall transport network in regions like Sydney, Brisbane, and Melbourne

  • Develop a strong understanding of sound data analysis and effective statistical modelling methodologies

  • Apply different software tools for data manipulation, performing statistical analysis, creating packages and pipelines to streamline processes and enhance efficiency

  • Gain experience in predictive modelling, regression analysis, and machine learning using state-of-the-art methodologies

  • Create and deliver impactful presentation materials, technical reports, and insights. Focus on developing your ability to effectively communicate findings by crafting a narrative that tells a compelling story using data

  • Document all assumptions and processes to meet internal quality assurance and risk management

  • Actively participate in and contribute to the planning, management and technical aspects of projects

  • Contribute to thought leadership within the traffic group to drive best practice and innovation

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including:

  • Appropriate tertiary education qualifications and/or or post graduate qualifications in engineering, data science, economics, mathematics, transport planning or related fields

  • Experience in the development, application and interpretation of relevant traffic and transport related analysis

  • Ability to research, present and convey information clearly and concisely

  • Strong data analysis skills with demonstrated range of analytical, statistical and modelling techniques with strong data visualisation skills

  • Knowledge of SQL, python coding or R programming

  • Experience coding to improve efficiency, scalability, reproducibility and automated reporting

  • A commitment to high quality outputs, timely delivery, and customer satisfaction

  • Good communication and sound writing skills for a range of audiences

If you meet some of these requirements, but not all, we encourage you to submit your application.

With a career at Transurban, you’ll enjoy a range of benefits, including:

  • A range of flexible working and leave options, including the option to purchase an additional six weeks of leave each year

  • 16 weeks paid parental leave (regardless of gender or carer status), with no waiting period, with Superannuation paid during unpaid leave as well

  • Learning and development opportunities to support your career interests

  • Health and wellbeing support—access to Headspace and our EAP program, wellness facilities, and more

  • Share offers and insurance benefits

  • Social activities, community give-back programs and paid volunteer days

We offer a range of flexible working and leave options, so you can balance your work and life commitments and interests. Have a conversation with us about how this could work for you.

We embrace diversity with a foundation of safety, wellbeing and inclusion; where everyone belongs. We treat everyone with fairness, consideration and respect, regardless of gender, gender identity, marital or family status, sexual orientation, age, ethnicity, religious beliefs, cultural or socio-economic background, perspective, and experience – whether they work for us or not. We want to ensure everyone feels comfortable and safe to express ideas, questions and concerns.

We strongly encourage applications from candidates of diverse backgrounds and lived experiences, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people living with disability. What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
