As a Gogo Airborne Platform Software Engineer you will be responsible for designing, developing and testing production quality software for Gogo airborne products on a Linux platform. You will develop new features, enhance existing software components, and test feature functionality on both existing products and our Next Generation 5G Air to Ground solution. You will be part of an experienced development team that integrates closely with other teams across the company.

How will you make a difference?

  • Design and develop software features for new products or extend design of existing products, including selection and integration of third-party technologies, particularly open source
  • Create high and low-level design documentation 
  • Conduct design reviews and participate in code inspections
  • Assist in development of automated unit tests
  • Provide estimates for design and feature development
  • Track project stories/tasks, provide status, and ensure stories/tasks are completed on schedule
  • Continually improve design, development, and test processes
  • May participate in establishing and maintaining software build environment and source code repository for assigned projects

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent experience 
  • 4-7 years of software development experience, preferably in a Linux or embedded systems environment

Required Skills, Experience and Talents

  • Understanding of Linux networking including routing, iptables, DHCP, and DNS
  • Strong application development skills in Linux environments utilizing Linux scripting languages, and C/C++
  • Experience as a Software Engineer developing software and utilizing open-source packages in data communications and/or telecommunications systems
  • Knowledge of Linux container concepts, especially Docker related

Preferred Skills, Experience and Talents

  • Has worked with the Agile software development methodology and SAFe framework
  • Working knowledge of the DO-178C certification process
  • Satellite communication experience

Additional Information

Base Pay:

Based on experience and responsibilities.

Target Annual Short-Term Incentive:

Bonus Plan at 10% (% of Annualized Base Pay)
