About the role
Looking to shape the future of engineering at scale? At Bunnings, we’re not just experimenting with emerging tech, we’re embedding modern platforms, automation, and AI into the heart of how we work. From streamlining operations to unlocking new customer experiences, we’re building impactful, scalable solutions.
As a Senior Engineer, you’ll join a passionate, hands-on team driving business value through cutting-edge technology. You’ll lead from the front - designing, building, and scaling solutions that matter. With a strong culture of learning, collaboration, and experimentation, we’re all about inspiring our team to give it a red-hot go.
What’s involved
- Design and deliver scalable software, platform, and automation solutions that solve real business problems.
- Experiment with emerging technologies, from cloud-native systems to automation and AI/GenAI framework - to build smart, secure, and maintainable systems.
- Mentor and uplift teammates through code reviews, pair programming, and knowledge sharing.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product owners, analysts, and designers to bring ideas to life.
- Own the full lifecycle—from concept to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.
- Contribute to a growing technical community, sharing learnings and shaping best practices.
Who we’re looking for
You’re a curious, hands-on engineer who thrives on solving complex problems and making things better. You love working in a team that values trust, autonomy, and a bit of fun along the way. You’re not afraid to try new things, share what you learn, and help others grow.
You bring a builder’s mindset and a passion for emerging technology, coupled with an enthusiasm for mentoring others and lifting the capability of the team. You communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders and are comfortable navigating ambiguity and iterating fast. You believe in doing things the right way—secure, scalable, and maintainable.
You’ll need
- Demonstrated experience in hands on software engineering (ideally 10+ years), with a proven ability to lead technical initiatives.
- Strong coding skills in Python, C#, or Java.
- Hands-on experience designing and delivering solutions in cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS/GCP a plus).
- Familiarity with modern architectures such as distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven design.
- A strong grasp of SDLC, Agile practices, and DevOps principles.
- Experience with automation platforms (e.g., Power Platform, RPA, or equivalent) and/or interest in applying AI/GenAI frameworks (e.g., LLMs, transformers) where they deliver value.
- Proven ability to collaborate across business domains and deliver high-quality, maintainable solutions.
You’ll be part of a workplace where you’ll feel like you belong.
Bunnings strives to ensure everyone is treated fairly and our team are committed to supporting you at any stage of your recruitment journey. Be sure to let us know if you require an adjustment and we can provide the most appropriate support for you. If you have the experience, skills and a passion to grow but don't necessarily nail every single point in the job description, please still apply.
