About the role 

We’re seeking a Senior Accountant on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract, who will have true insight across the business and drive key outcomes by assisting with a range of accounting tasks across the group. You will be responsible for coaching junior team members, reviewing their work, preparing complex reporting and inputs into budgets and forecasts, and playing an active role in development of new or enhanced reporting.

Day-to-day, you will: 

  • Understand and adhere to accounting policies and processes and execute key financial controls and control timetables 

  • Challenge the existing processes and continually assess systems and processes for improvement opportunities and automation

  • Play an active role in development of new or enhanced reporting from finance systems (WorkDay, Adaptive Insight, Workiva)

  • Assist junior team members in resolving questions or issues as they arise during budget and forecast. Coaching Juniors and reviewing their work.

  • Prepare and review budget and forecast statutory inputs, cashflows, free cash and debt metrics

  • Play a lead role in preparation of half-year and year-end deliverables (including Group and subsidiary financial statements, financial statements analysis documents, statutory inputs in CFO analysis pack and Investor Presentation, Directors pack, inputs in board / audit committee papers, etc)

  • Assist with internal and external audit process, including information gathering and liaising with audit team to resolve issues as they arise 

  • Develop a greater level of technical accounting knowledge across the broader Transurban Accounting Group 

This role will suit someone with a curious mind and transferrable skills and experiences, including: 

  • Professional accounting accreditation (such as CA or CPA) 

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field

  • Relevant advanced financial accounting experience from Chartered (Big4 or Mid-tier, audit) Experience in a listed or a large corporation

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge including financial reporting, accounting standards (e.g. IFRS) and regulatory requirements

  • Analytical along with strong financial reporting knowledge and skills aid your ability to identify and analyse key business drivers 

  • Comfortable with change, you are open minded and able to adapt to new situations with ease

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills will assist you in engaging and creating strong working relationships across the business
