Young people deserve to graduate from school scientifically literate and ready to tackle tomorrow's problems. With students set to enter a world and a workforce deeply infused with AI, their abilities to discern fact from fiction, make sense of data, and think critically are more important than ever.
Stile is committed to making the best science lessons in the known universe. We equip teachers with everything they need to deliver relevant, engaging and impactful lessons for their students. Stile's complete science curriculum for Australian secondary schools, housed on our award-winning teaching platform, is continually kept up to date with the latest science and is deeply and easily customised by teachers.
We’re incredibly proud that over 2,000,000 students have learnt with Stile so far, and we're on track for that number to reach 10,000,000 by 2030.
We’re seeking an experienced science teacher who loves to write to be the voice of Stile for Australian science educators, bringing real classroom credibility to everything we say to teachers, heads of science and school leaders.
Why this role rocks• Write for people you know: Teachers can tell when copy was written by someone who has never taught Year 9 on a Friday afternoon. You have, and it will show in every campaign, email and landing page.
• Your expertise, at scale: Instead of one classroom, your thinking reaches thousands of science teachers and school leaders across Australia.
• Be the expert in the room: Marketing, Product and our school-facing teams come to you when decisions touch science teaching, curriculum or pedagogy.
• Learn the craft of marketing: You’ll work alongside the team and learn how campaigns, channels and messaging really work. Formal marketing experience isn’t required.
• Stay close to classrooms: Selective school visits, events and conferences keep your thinking current, without a calendar full of travel.
What you’ll be leading
• Content and messaging: Write first-draft campaign copy (EDMs, landing pages, direct mail and thought leadership) that sounds like a teacher, respects teacher workload and autonomy, and needs only a light edit. Shape how we talk to teachers, heads of science and school leaders.
• Communicating the value of Stile: Work with Product and the Schools team to explain new units, features and Stile X through real school needs, and run a regular rhythm of communications that teachers and leaders find useful.
• Promoting professional learning: Help existing customers see professional learning as essential to getting the most from Stile, so every school knows what’s on offer and how to access it.
• Collateral: Keep our core sales and marketing collateral and website science content accurate, current and credible, and spot what needs fixing before anyone asks.
• Sector expertise: Track curriculum reform, state policy, assessment change and research, and hold a view that stands up in front of a room of heads of science.
• Measuring what works: Deliver campaigns on time and on budget, and be able to explain which messages and channels are landing, and why.
What success looks like
Within 6 months
• You deeply understand Stile’s product, pedagogy, Stile X and professional learning, and rarely need to be briefed on the basics.
• You’ve written first-draft copy for two priority campaigns and published a thought leadership piece.
• A rolling communications schedule for teachers, heads of science and school leaders is running, and the next quarterly feature and unit communication has shipped.
• Core collateral and website science content have been audited, with the highest-priority fixes made.
Within 12 months
• Stile’s teacher-facing marketing is unmistakably credible, because it reflects genuine classroom expertise.
• A Stile X and professional learning campaign to existing customers has lifted uptake against its baseline.
• Teams across Stile seek your expertise on decisions that affect science teaching, curriculum or pedagogy.
• You can show which messages and channels worked over the year, and why.
A bit more about you
You’re a science teacher who loves the craft of communicating ideas. You know what teachers value, what wastes their time and what earns their trust, and you can turn that into words that land. You can move between a campaign brief, a product conversation and a staffroom without losing sight of the audience.
You’ve most likely taught secondary science for at least five years; you may have been a Head of Science, curriculum leader or learning specialist, or written for teachers in another form. If you’ve taught with Stile, even better.
Here are a few qualities we think will help you shine in this role (but you don’t need all of them to apply):
• Classroom credibility: Teachers recognise you as one of them, and your writing sounds like it.
• Excellent writer: You make complex curriculum, pedagogy and product ideas clear, useful and engaging. You share drafts early and welcome edits.
• Pedagogy nerd: You have deep, current knowledge of science pedagogy, curriculum and assessment in Australia, and opinions about where it’s heading.
• Curious about marketing: You want to know why some messages land and others don’t. Marketing experience is welcome but not essential.
• Organised and reliable: You can juggle several projects, contributors and deadlines, and make sensible trade-offs. Nothing gets dropped.
• Fast learner: You pick up new products quickly and enjoy understanding how things work under the hood.
Hours and locationThis is a full-time, fixed-term role parental leave cover), based in our Melbourne CBD office with a few days a week in the office. You’ll travel occasionally for school visits, events and conferences, but this isn’t a role on the road.
