Sales Manager – SMB New Business (Melbourne-Based)

The Opportunity:
Following strong growth in our Australian APAC operations, we’re looking for a driven and entrepreneurial SMB Sales Manager to lead and scale our high-velocity inbound sales team in Melbourne. You’ll be hands-on in both managing the sales pipeline and coaching a team of Account Executives as we take our sales function to the next level.
This isn’t your typical sales leadership role—at Connecteam, you’ll play a key part in shaping the broader SMB business unit alongside Product, Marketing, Customer Success, and Data. If you're a builder at heart who thrives in fast-paced, collaborative environments, we want to hear from you.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the SMB sales pipeline: drive performance and manage a high volume of inbound deals from prospect to close. These are high quality, high intent inbound leads that with the right team and leadership, convert to paying customers more than 50% of the time.
- Lead and coach a team of Account Executives, supporting their development and success through performance management, mentoring, and strategic guidance.
- Define and implement sales methodologies, routines, and workflows—including BI dashboards—to drive team efficiency and results.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, CS, and Enablement to continuously improve the customer journey.
- Become a Connecteam product expert and help customers understand the value we deliver through consultative, value-led sales conversations.
- Contribute to team hiring, onboarding, and training as we continue to expand the SMB sales unit.
What We’re Looking For:
- 3+ years of B2B SaaS sales experience, ideally with international exposure.
- At least 1 year in a sales management or team lead role.
- Proven success in SMB sales environments with high-volume pipelines.
- Experience building or joining an early-stage sales team—bonus points for startup or hyper-growth experience.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to inspire and coach others.
- Comfortable using data to drive decisions and performance improvements.
- Highly collaborative and business-savvy with a positive, proactive mindset.
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Based in Melbourne, with availability to work in our office at least 3 days a week.
- Experience in workforce management solutions, HR Tech or payroll solutions - a strong advantage.
