Position Purpose:

The Sales Performance Specialist is accountable for the day-to-day performance of the business funnel. The role converts data into clear priorities, partners closely with Sales, Marketing, and other functions, and drives timely action across the field to improve conversion, productivity, and customer outcomes.

The analyst is expected to identify performance gaps within the funnel, diagnose the drivers, recommend actions, align owners, and follow through until results improve.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Own the assigned funnel end -to- end. Maintain a clear view of volume, conversion, velocity, value and leakage at every stage, with agreed definitions and targets.
  • Monitor performance every day. Identify emerging gaps, unusual movements and underperforming areas early; distinguish signal from noise and escalate material risks promptly
  • Drive action—not just insight. Translate analysis into specific actions, owners and deadlines; track completion and measure whether the intervention delivered the expected impact
  • Partner closely with Sales. Work with Sales leaders and field teams to understand operational drivers, prioritise opportunities and embed performance routines that improve execution
  • Partner closely with Marketing. Connect campaign activity, lead quality and customer behaviour to downstream funnel performance; provide feedback that improves targeting and activation
  • Build and improve Power BI dashboards. Create trusted, intuitive dashboards and performance views that enable leaders to move quickly from national performance to region, area, store or individual drivers
  • Deliver advanced Excel analysis. Use structured models, pivots, lookups, formulas and scenario analysis to investigate business questions and support rapid decisions
  • Create a single version of truth. Partner with BI/IT and data owners to validate data quality, reconcile discrepancies and maintain clear KPI definitions
  • Run the performance rhythm. Prepare daily and weekly views, lead structured discussions, document decisions and maintain visibility of actions and outcomes
  • Improve the funnel continuously. Use segmentation, root-cause analysis, testing and relevant statistical techniques to identify and validate improvement opportunities

Experience and Qualifications:

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Engineering, Statistics, Data Analytics or a related discipline.

Essential Experience

  • Demonstrated experience monitoring and improving sales, marketing, customer or operational funnel performance on a daily basis
  • Proven ability to convert analysis into commercial actions and measurable business outcomes—not only reports or dashboards
  • Experience partnering directly with Sales and Marketing leaders in a fast-paced, performance-focused environment
  • Experience working with complex datasets, investigating performance drivers and communicating conclusions clearly to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience managing competing priorities and responding quickly when performance changes

Skills and Competencies:

Soft Skills

  • Commercial curiosity: Looks beyond what happened to understand why it happened and what should happen next
  • Ownership: Takes accountability for the funnel and follows through on agreed actions and outcomes
  • Influence: Builds credibility with Sales, Marketing and field stakeholders; challenges constructively using evidence
  • Communication: Explains complex analysis simply and produces concise, decision-ready updates
  • Collaboration: Works effectively across Sales, Marketing, BI/IT, Operations and other business functions

Technical Skills

  • Advanced Power BI: data modelling,  dashboard development, Working knowledge of SQL for deeper analysis and automation
  • Advanced Excel: pivot tables, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, SUMIFS, logical and statistical formulas, data cleansing, scenario analysis and structured models
  • Strong understanding of funnel metrics, conversion analysis, segmentation, trend analysis and root-cause investigation

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
