The Role: As a Sales Director for Japan, your job is to drive and lead government sales in Japan – especially in Defence & Intelligence (D&I) that moves the needle on growth targets.
Reporting to the VP, Head of APAC, the Sales Director of for Japan will be responsible for driving large, complex transactions, smaller transactions in the medium-sized business market, all while ensuring consistent and predictable growth and success. You will be expected to:
Think Strategically:
- Identify target clients and build capture plans around strategic activities, desired relationships and business strategies that optimize business opportunities and deliver results.
- Guide the positioning and articulation of our key value propositions to targeted, high value customers.
- Develop and lead a strategy to identify and capitalize on funding sources with a focus on USG Security Assistance and Security Cooperation programs.
- Gain recognition as a trusted and respected representative of Vantor.
Act Tactically:
- Direct responsibility for driving Government and National Security business development and sales.
- Take a “hands-on” approach in proactively engaging Defence D&I stakeholders.
- Co-develop proposals to respond to RFPs, RFIs, and tenders.
- Work with Sales, Marketing, and Finance teams to accurately forecast, implement, and monitor a successful strategic BD/go-to-market program.
- Represent Vantor at user conferences, and a variety of public speaking engagements.
Understand Our Customers:
- Leverage your government industry and mission domain knowledge when working with cross-divisional teams to grow business and increase market share for Vantor.
- Demonstrate government industry and foreign relations knowledge and its relevance to the application of remote sensing and Earth observation.
- Identify key stakeholders and business drivers for government customers. Understand customer budgeting and acquisition processes. Use consultative selling skills to understand operational, mission and business challenges of customers.
Required Qualifications:
- Government industry experience >10 years
- Experience with Defence & National Security > 10 years
- Solutions selling experience > 10 years
- Be willing to go through Japan security clearance process equivalent to US Active Top Secret security clearance.
- 15+ years of direct government industry work experience, preferably in operational, diplomatic, defense and intelligence or geospatial domains.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Geospatial, Engineering or related fields
- Previous experience in Japan Government, Japan MoD and foreign government Security Assistance and FMS related activities.
- Experience responding to RFPs, RFIs, and tenders in complex environments and short timeframes
- Lives in Tokyo or is prepared to relocate there.
- Ability to travel domestically or internationally averaging about 25% with potential peaks up to 50% travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Existing Japan security clearance equivalent to US Active Top Secret security clearance.
- Multi-lingual with communication skills in English and Japanese as a minimum
- Understanding of International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) process
- Experience working within the Earth Imagery, GEOINT markets highly desired
- Master’s degree in a technical discipline or Analysis and Strategy
