What the role is all about

The Sales Development Representative qualifies leads and reaches out to potential customers, initiating conversations and identifying prospects who have genuine interest and potential to become qualified opportunities. Nurturing these leads, SDRs help streamline the sales process, optimize resource allocation, and drive revenue growth for the organization.

  • Prospecting: Actively research and identify potential leads and accounts through various channels, such as social media, databases and search engines/tools.
  • Outreach: Initiate contact with leads through emails, phone calls, and social platforms to engage in meaningful conversations.
  • Qualification: Assess the fit and potential of leads by gauging their needs, budget, timeline, and decision-making authority.
  • Lead Nurturing: Build and maintain relationships with leads over time, providing relevant information and addressing their concerns.
  • Data Management: Keep accurate records of all interactions and lead information in the CRM system.
  • Collaboration: Coordinate closely with marketing to align messaging and strategies, and with sales to ensure a seamless transition of qualified leads.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, product knowledge, and sales techniques to enhance effectiveness.

Who we’re looking for

  • Working knowledge and familiarity with CRM software, sales tools, and communication platforms to track interactions and manage lead data.
  • Working competency in effective time management skills to balance outreach, follow-ups, and administrative tasks efficiently.
  • Advanced verbal and written communication abilities to effectively engage with leads, convey value propositions, and handle objections.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly, establish trust, and develop relationships with potential clients.
  • A fundamental understanding of sales processes, techniques, and strategies to effectively qualify and nurture leads.
  • The tenacity to handle rejection and continue pursuing leads with a positive attitude.
  • The capability to manage and prioritize a high volume of leads, tasks, and follow-ups in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in researching and sourcing potential leads, as well as gathering relevant information about their businesses and industries.
  • The willingness to learn and adapt to changing market conditions, product offerings, and sales approaches.
  • The ability to work collaboratively with both marketing and sales teams to align strategies and seamlessly transition leads.
  • A solid understanding of the company's products and services to articulate their value proposition to potential clients.
  • A self-motivated and results-oriented mindset, with a drive to achieve and exceed sales targets and performance metrics.

What you need to know about the Melbourne Tech Scene

Home to 650 biotech companies, 10 major research institutes and nine universities, Melbourne is among one of the top cities for biotech. In fact, some of the greatest medical advancements were conceptualized and developed here, including Symex Lab's "lab-on-a-chip" solution that monitors hormones to predict ovulation for conception, and Denteric's vaccine for periodontal gum disease. Yet, the thousands of people working in the city's healthtech sector are just getting started, to say nothing of the tech advancements across all other sectors.
