Your role and responsibilities

As Sales and Business Development Manager for ABB's Renewable Power Business Line, you will spearhead sales activities across Australia, focusing on utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hydrogen projects, to improve ABB’s market penetration and realize growth aspirations.

You will drive business growth by selling solar inverters, BESS converters, and power stations for renewable energy plants, collaborating closely with local sales networks and partners to achieve strategic objectives and expand ABB’s market presence. Each day, you will define, plan, lead, and execute the sales strategy to achieve both qualitative and quantitative sales targets for products, systems, and/or services, ensuring sustainable growth in orders, revenue, profitability, market share, sales productivity, and customer satisfaction.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Proactively pursue and target prospective clients, swiftly recognizing gaps in market coverage and taking decisive action to secure new opportunities and drive performance improvements.

  • Aggressively source and qualify new leads with both existing and potential customers, develop actionable sales plans, and build a robust pipeline that converts prospects into successful deals.

  • Initiate direct customer outreach and engagement, leveraging feedback from surveys and interactions to strengthen relationships and ensure exceptional customer satisfaction throughout the sales cycle.

  • Take an active role in negotiating and closing high-value contracts, consistently aligning agreements with strategic sales objectives and maximizing business growth.

Qualifications for the role

  • Deep expertise and 10+ years of hands-on experience with sales and business development in the renewable energy sector, specifically in utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hydrogen technologies.

  • Proven track record in selling power conversion equipment such as hydrogen rectifiers, solar inverters, BESS converters, and power stations, ideally with at least 5 years of relevant industry experience.

  • Strong knowledge of regional markets in Australia, demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with local sales networks and customers.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and strategic planning skills, with a passion for driving innovative solutions in the renewable energy landscape.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or a related field; postgraduate qualifications are an advantage.

  • Experience of working with South East Asia, North East Asia, and Middle East & Africa markets is highly valued.

  • Fluency in English is required; additional language skills are an advantage.
