Position Details - Safety Business Partner, Melbourne

Tullamarine, VIC | Fixed-Term 12-Month Contract | Full-Time

We are now seeking an experienced and influential Safety Business Partner to join our Laverton site on a 12-month fixed-term contract and play a critical role in embedding a safety-first culture across our operations.

Based at our Tullamarine facility, this role supports several of our smaller facilities including Truganina, Dandenong South and Allansford.

About the Role

Reporting to the Regional Safety Manager – Australia, the Safety Business Partner will work closely with site leadership, Health & Safety Representatives, and frontline teams to create an injury-free workplace.

This is a hands-on, operationally focused role that goes beyond personal injury prevention, encompassing process, plant, and transport safety.

You will act as a trusted advisor to leaders, coaching and influencing best practice while ensuring alignment with Lineage’s group safety standards and frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with operational leaders to develop, implement, and embed site safety plans and initiatives

  • Help create a sustainable safety and compliance culture, reinforcing Lineage’s values and safety framework

  • Identify local safety improvement opportunities and proactively mitigate operational risk

  • Support or facilitate incident investigations, risk assessments, audits, and corrective actions

  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and Safety Leadership training to leaders and teams

  • Support injury management and return-to-work activities

  • Coordinate consultative frameworks, including HSRs and local safety committees

  • Develop SOPs, SWMS, JSAs, toolbox talks, and local safety training

  • Monitor, analyse, and report on safety performance, including lead and lag indicators

  • Support Chain of Responsibility (CoR) compliance across transport operations

  • Contribute to state, national, and APAC-wide safety programs and initiatives

About You

You are a confident safety professional who thrives in fast-paced, operational environments and enjoys influencing leaders at all levels.

You will bring:

  • Significant experience in a Safety Advisor / Safety Business Partner or similar role

  • Qualifications in Work Health & Safety or a related discipline

  • In-depth working knowledge of Australian WHS legislation and Codes of Practice

  • Proven experience conducting risk assessments, audits, and investigations

  • A track record of partnering with leaders to drive cultural change

  • Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Proficient organisational and reporting capability, with solid IT skills (Microsoft Office)

  • Auditor or training qualifications (highly regarded)
